“I know she ain’t crying?”
Familiar voices had me opening my eyes. Immediately I locked eyes with Amethyst then Patience. What the hell were they doing here?
“I hope you don’t think you were about to get married for real this time without us,” Amethyst said, approaching me with a big smirk.
“It’s bad enough we weren’t invited to your father’s wedding yesterday,” Patience said,
laughing.
“Exactly, we missed the entire shindig. Because baby the way I would have cut up at that man coming in there and telling you to bring your ass. I’m mad I missed it, but we’re here now and you look beautiful.”
“And who made this dress? Because as someone who has been browsing the bridal magazines, I have not seen it and I feel like you’re keeping things from me.”
I laughed. “Keeping things like what, Amethyst?”
“Like you’re about to expand into luxury bridals as well,” Patience answered.
“And how do you know I made this?”
“Because it’s perfect, like every piece you have made us. So when I get married, which I hope is soon, you’re my first call. Now let’s get yo—”
Somebody clearing their throat behind us made me turn around.
“Is it time?”
Kolton nodded in her direction.
“Okay, let’s get to our seats. We’ll see you out there.” Amethyst hugged me, then Patience, then they were gone and I was left once again looking at myself in the mirror.
“You look beautiful, sis.”
I grinned. “I feel it…beautiful.”
“Good. I wanna ask you something because it’s burning me up and I feel selfish as fuck asking, but I need to.”
I moved away from the mirror, approaching him. He towered over me as I fixed his shirt. He never buttoned the top ones. “Anything.”
“Did he threaten me to get you to walk down that aisle yesterday?”
I looked up into his eyes, unable to lie or hold it, so I nodded. “He threatened everything you’ve worked for, so I made a choice.”
He nodded. “Such a rotten bastard.”
“That he is, because he knew I’d do anything for you, and I still will.”
He laughed. “Yeah I know, but don’t ever sacrifice your happiness and wellbeing for me like that. We talk about everything, Kars. You should have come to me, but he caught you at a weak moment, so I got it.”
I shook my head. “I hear you, twin.”
He laughed, then pulled a bouquet from behind his back. “And this is for you.”
I accepted it, smiling. It was an array of red roses, more me than anything. “Thank you.”
“But on another note, I hear your girl is ready to walk down the aisle.”
“Absolutely not. You are not there yet and you know it.”
“Maybe, maybe not.” Just as he finished speaking, the music paused, and the cue for me to come out started. I only knew that because it was the same cue for the bride at every wedding.
