“Not tonight,” she says, pulling her plate closer to her. She lifts her eyes to mine. “It’s nothing bad. But it will require some time to explain, and I’d rather spend tonight with you.”

I’ll give her tonight, but we’d be having a conversation about why picking up her vehicle made her look uncomfortable.

“Eat up, darlin’. I’ve got plans for you.”

She grins at me and starts to eat. When she’s done, I pick up our plates.

“Grab your glass of wine, and wait for me in the living room, baby. We’ll have our conversation before we take this further. I need to know we’re on the same page.”

Honor slides off the stool. Her hands resting on her hips, head tilted to the side. Spearing me with a look, a smile quivers on the edge of her lips. “We can have whatever discussion you want. I won’t be changing my mind, Spook. But, if it makes you feel better…” she trails off with a shrug and picks up her glass, turning towards the lounge. She gives me one more look over her shoulder, and winks before flouncing away.

I shit you not. She flounced.

My mouth twitches and I’m hard pressed not to let out a bark of laughter.

Swear to God, I’d never actually seen anyone flounce before, but Honor did that shit with style.

This woman was going to be the death of me.

I’ve laughed and smiled more in the last week, than I have in the last ten years.

Rinsing the plates, I load the dishwasher, pick up my beer, and join the woman who has completely and irrevocably captured my heart.

CHAPTER 7

HONOR

My day had started off beautifully. Breakfast with my boys then a day of fun at the garden centre with Angel, Siera, and the girls.

Until I’d met them all, I hadn’t realised how lonely I’d been. Angel was so happy to get to know me and soaked up every hour that we spent together. I’m thrilled to get to know her. She holds a lot of guilt for giving me up. We had an uncomfortable conversation about it, and I’m sure it won’t be the last one.

She is a good person with a soft heart. She would have made a phenomenal mother, and I am sad for her, that she hadn’t got to be one.

For two years I’d been aimlessly wandering around the country, until I’d landed here. I knew deep within my soul that I was home. I wouldn’t be leaving.

I’d fallen in love at first sight with two little boys that owned my heart from the first “Mine.”

And hopefully after tonight, I will put their father’s mind at ease, that I am the right woman for him. Then, we can get on with making more baby Spooks, because damn not only is the man FINE! He is also an amazing father.

Every time I see him with Mason and Reed, my heart is filled with so much joy, I think it might burst from my chest.

That is just my heart. Let’s not mention the other bits of me that stand up and take notice.

I’m not sure he realises how attractive he is while caring for them. So many times, I’d had to hold myself back from jumping his bones.

To hell with his weeklong rule.

But I’d held myself back. Now, I don't need to anymore.

Dinner was tough. I’m not sure how I stopped myself from crawling across the breakfast counter.

He seems totally oblivious to how he affects me. And everything he does sends tremors of want and need flooding through me. The way the muscles in his arms bunch with every forkful. The way his throat moves when he takes a sip of beer. The way he gives me his full attention when he asks me a question. To say my panties are damp is an understatement.

That could have been what made my sassy side appear when I left him in the kitchen. I’ve never been so horny in my life. The man is testing my patience.

This talk better go quickly or I am taking over.

I set my wine glass down on the coffee table. Taking a seat on the couch, I tuck my legs under me and wait.
