“I do,” he whispered into my hair. “I do love you. So, so much.”

“I know,” I said, believing he meant it. And that he would keep meaning it. Because he’d actually been willing to commit and to put in the effort to make things work with me. He’d come back, and he’d rebuilt that safety net, making sure the only place I’d ever fall again was right into his arms. My heart hammered against my chest. “I’m really liking this ‘just got engaged’ sex.”

He grinned against my cheek. “Speaking of. We probably have some people to tell.”

“About the sex?” I teased. He rolled his eyes and dragged me close, covering me with kisses until I laughed and pushed him away. “I’m surprised you haven’t put it in the group text yet.”

He barked a laugh. “Excuse me, I’ve been a little busy.” His lips brushed my ear, nipping playfully as his hand reached to pull the covers up over us. “Listening to you moan my name.”

“You like when I moan your name.”

“I really, really do,” he said. “And we have some catching up to do on that front. But I suppose while we’re waiting…” He leaned over the bed and pulled his phone from his jeans. “Hold your hand out for me.”

I did. I didn’t think I’d ever get used to seeing this ring on my finger. Or thinking of myself as a fiancée. A fiancée who would one day be a wife!

Trent snapped a photo of my hand and the ring, then posted it to the group chat. You’re all invited, he posted underneath.

It only took about fifteen seconds for the messages to start rolling in. And once they started, they didn’t stop. I cuddled close to Trent as we read through them.

No fucking way! Vincent wrote. Showing this to baby Violet right now.

I laughed. “I’m sure she’ll really appreciate it.”

Good for you, bro! That was from Paul. Chloe and I are stoked.

Piper’s mad I showed Violet before her. That was Vincent’s follow-up. #girldad

Let’s all just acknowledge that Trent took this photo in the ‘just got engaged’ sex bed, Aiden wrote. Look at those sheets!

My cheeks heated. “Oh my God! He’s right! How could you post the sheets?”

Trent laughed, replying to Aiden with a winky face. Aiden sent a lewd GIF back—there was a lot of gyrating.

“Don’t encourage him!” I cried.

Trent kissed my cheek. “Get used to it. I’m not letting you leave this bed any time soon.”

Does Stacy know yet? Dominic asked. Can I show her this?

“Go for it,” I told Trent, who replied for me. Stacy must have gone to Dominic’s after work. A moment later, Stacy was blowing up my phone with congratulatory messages and emojis. So many damn emojis. “What the hell is the rocket ship supposed to mean?”

“Our love is out of this world?” Trent suggested.

I smirked.

“In case it’s not obvious,” he said as he pulled me closer. “They’re all really happy for us.”

“Are you gonna tell Dee now?” I asked.

He considered that for a second. I didn’t know why he’d wait. “How about you call and give her the good news?” he suggested.

“Are you sure? You don’t want that news to come from you?”

“I think she’ll be over the moon to hear from you,” he said. “And while you do that, I’ll text Jimmy and see how he feels about being my best man.”

I smiled softly at him. “Jimmy’s gonna love that.”

Trent smirked. “He’s probably gonna rake me over the coals in his speech.”
