Dinner was tasty but fraught with sexual tension. It radiated off us, palpable and sizzling hot.

We finished eating, and I drained my beer. I’d only had one because I wanted nothing to impair my performance. I imagined Cody felt the same as he too had only one drink.

As I’d done most of the cooking, I was directed to the armchair while Cody cleaned up. I checked my messages, noting with pleasure that Suzanne was coming over Monday morning. Our sessions had tapered off and she was more of a friend now, coming by to check on me rather than being a life coach for the blind.

I was listening to one rather surprising message when warm hands covered my eyes and a voice whispered in my ear.

“I think it’s shower time. You want to go first or should we get clean together?”

I turned off my phone and shook my head. For some inexplicable reason, I didn’t want our first time to be in the shower. I wanted romance, a bed and soft sheets.

“No, I’ll go first, you can jump in after me.” That way I could at least prepare my bedroom a little. Controlling my environment had become important since the accident.

Cody kissed my ear then moved away. “Cool. Okay, you go get nice and scrubbed up for me, and I’ll putter around in here. I’ll meet you in the bedroom.”

My groin warmed at that thought and anticipation rocketed through my body. I nodded and got up, taking my cane and moving toward the hallway. “By the way, my friend Blu left me a voicemail. You might want to sit down for this one.”

Cody is going to find this as amusing as hell.

“Huh?” Cody’s interest piqued immediately. “That sounds intriguing.” The couch sagged as he plunked himself down. “Spill.”

I nodded, trying to keep the smirk off my face. “Well, it seems my friend met your friend at the Empty Closet and they kinda hit it off if you know what I mean.”

“Which friend are you— Ohhhh.” He cackled loudly. “That’s awesome. Those two fit. Blu and Dev sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G,” he sang.

I shook my head as I moved into the hall. “You’re such a kid, you know that, right?”

He was beside me in an instant, warm breath fanning my cheek as he groped me.

“A kid? Really? I don’t think this,” he palmed me hard, “feels like a kid.”

“Ah, no,” I gasped. “I’m going to go shower now.”

I moved away before my boyfriend-—how weird did that still sound-—could torment me any further. I washed quickly, ignoring the boner prodding insistently against my stomach.

Huh. Probably no point in putting on any clothes. He’s gonna take them off anyway.

And didn’t that thought both thrill and scare the shit out of me. I stroked my cock, almost salivating at the thought of what was coming.

I pulled back the bedcovers, making sure there were condoms and lube under the pillow—we didn’t want to use the damn condoms but we were waiting for our tests results—then I sat down on the edge of the bed. My legs shook and my heart beat as fast as a hummingbird’s.

Shit, I hope this works out. I haven’t been this nervous since using my cane for the first time on my own.

I took a deep breath. My bedroom smelled of sandalwood, coffee, aftershave and fresh linen. The alarm clock ticked on the side of the bed. The dream catcher over the window blew gently in the breeze of the open window, a familiar knocking sound as it tapped against the glass.

Outside, trees rustled and there was the soft call of some night bird.

At the sound of water running in the shower, I got into bed, draping the cover over my bottom half and wondered whether Cody would be wearing anything when he came to bed. Not for the first time I cursed my lack of eyesight. I would have given anything to see Cody again, see the curves and muscles of his body, and the cock I’d seen so many years ago and now would never see again.

I sensed his presence before I heard him, smelled the familiar clean scent of him. I gripped the sheets, swallowing the surge of panic.

“Hey,” he murmured as he slid in beside me. I could feel the radiating heat of his body. “You okay? You look a little worried.”

I shrugged. “Nervous.”

Cody shifted and without warning, his heated, still-damp body pressed against mine. His hair smelled of my shampoo, and my soap. He was a warm and tasty treat on a cool, early-October night and I was so damn hungry for him it took my breath away.

“Don’t be nervous, Nate,” he whispered against my neck as his lips found my throat and he nibbled my oversensitive skin, his lips whispering promises all the way down. “It’s you and me, you know? Just in a different way this time.” The smile in his voice warmed me. I held my breath when he moved over me, arms alongside my body, and gasped when his hardness pressed against mine.
