I should have guessed Suzanne would be the first.
“So spill it,” she demanded. “Cody said you’d been upset over something your family had done and needed some space. Who do I have to kill?”
I laughed. “No killing needed. I’m getting over it.”
Blu touched my arm, getting my attention. “This the family that disavowed you when you came out?”
I nodded.
Blu sighed. “Shit, that’s always rough. I work with the LGBT shelters, with the homeless runaways, and that sort of thing will break your heart.” I remembered a conversation we’d had one night. I knew his little sister had been blind and at four years old, she’d gone paddling in the lake one evening on her own, slipped and drowned. Blu had never forgiven himself for that; he was the one who should have been looking after her. He’d only been ten at the time.
“Babe, your heart gets broken regularly. You get too involved.” Dev’s tone was filled with affection. He had a voice like warm toffee and I tried not to imagine it saying dirty things to Cody when they’d been in bed, or in a car, or a bathroom.
Saying dirty things to Cody was my job now. I still had quite a few in my repertoire I wanted to try out.
Blu sounded wistful when he replied. “Yeah, I know. People tell you all the time not to let these guys into your heart, but when you see them huddled down with no light in their eyes because everyone they thought would love them has rejected them—it’s tough. They need someone to care. I guess sometimes I do it too much, if that’s possible. You wouldn’t have me any other way, though, right?”
There was the soft sound of one mouth taking another in an unmistakeable kiss and I shook my head.
“Guys, I might not be able to see but my hearing is really good. You making out in front of me has me wishing Cody was here, so knock it off.”
Suzanne tapped my knee. “Excuse me, lady here liking the floor show. These two are way cute together.”
I pretended to gag. “Straight lady in the room, could you please refrain from describing two men as ‘cute’? I hear it all the time and it’s like, urggh.”
“But they are cute!” Suzanne defended herself and I bit back the smile. I loved baiting her. “Is it something guys don’t like hearing, some cardinal sin or something? ’Cause if it is I’ll try not to say it anymore.”
By now all three men were chuckling loudly at her flustered state and the sudden “lights on” moment that I was teasing her surfaced.
“God, Nate, you can be such a bitch,” she huffed. “I thought I’d said something to offend. I’m still learning all this stuff with what to say and not to say.”
I affected a camp voice. “Sweetheart, I’m gay and I think they’re cute.” My voice went back to normal. “Suze, honest, I don’t think anyone minds. We may prefer to be described as manly, sexual gods with dicks the size of a submarine, but cute will do in a pinch.”
The rest of the afternoon was spent in idle chatter and we all had a few more drinks. I went to bed later that night buzzed.
I might have been a little more buzzed than I thought when I listened to my texts the next morning. I vaguely remembered speaking some slurred words into my phone as I lay in bed.
Me: Missing you so damn much. Lying here naked thinking of you. I checked—it had been sent to Cody, so that was good. I hadn’t sent a random sext to someone I shouldn’t have.
Cody: Missing you too. Naked you say? What are you doing?
Me: What would you like me to do? Ooh I had been coquettish. Nice.
Cody: I want you to wrap a hand around that gorgeous cock and stroke it, while you think of me kissing you.
My cock liked this conversation. It was rapidly inflating and from the dim recall, it was going to get better.
Me: I’ll do it if you do it too. Think of my mouth on you. Love to taste you, touch you there, where you like it.
Cody loved having his balls played with.
Cody: God, the things you say. Why don’t we take this to an actual call? Want to hear your voice gasping my name.
Me: I’ve already gasped it, like, ten times already. Going to come with it on my lips.
Cody: Babe, I’m going to call you. I want to hear your voice when you come. Answer your phone! ♥
That last one sounded rather desperate. I smirked at that.
