I stood outside the dark-brown door that had a claw-shaped gold knocker and tried not to throw up on the porch. My hands were full – this time with the moonlit blueberry muffins that Ivy had thought were too risky when I’d tried to suggest them the first time.
But Melodie had loved the idea of them. They were intended to help werewolves with their shifts, and she was more than happy to let me to use the Treasure Trove’s kitchen for my experiment. So now I was armed with muffins and full of nerves that refused to dissipate. Just when I was sure I should leave, turn around and walk away, my phone buzzed.
I slipped it out and read the flurry of texts.
RAVEN
Stop freaking out
SOFIA
Yeah we can feel your panic from here.
RAVEN
Orion says to knock on the door already.
MAYA
Is he stalking me????
I looked up accusingly to the sky, trying to see a flash of silver among the clouds. But there wasn’t any.

Because I’m not being a messenger between you and Maya.
ORION-THORN-IN-MY-SIDE
Has she knocked on the door yet?
MAYA
