“Kid needs to alter his name. I had it first,” I replied.
“His actual surname is Priest. We let him keep it, but yeah, it’s gotta change,” Bogeyman agreed.
“We’ve not got Brielle, but we’ve news. Come with me,” Warden said and nodded towards his office.
Undertaker threw me a towel. I caught it gratefully, and two unfamiliar faces caught my attention as they rose and followed.
“Who are they?”
“Seeker and Craft. You might recognise them as Cécile and Etienne from Louisiana,” Warden replied.
“Yeah, I’ve heard of them,” I said as Undertaker placed a glass of whiskey in front of me. “You got powers?”
Seeker nodded. “You know I have. Craft is my anchor. I know who you’re seeking. Brielle was coming here. But she’s going to pass through New Hampshire first.”
“Brielle’s alive?” Hope welled up in me.
“Yes, and looking for you. But you’ll find her before she reaches here. You need to go to the RHMC in Portsmouth; they’ll lead you to Brielle,” Seeker said.
I got to my feet.
“Not tonight,” Warden stated. “You can rest for one night. Come on, brother, let’s get you some food and a drink.”
I wanted to leave, but Seeker shook her head. “If you go this evening, you’ll not see Brielle again.”
That did it. I walked out and planted my ass on a barstool. “Beer,” I ordered as Warden joined me. Being surrounded by brothers felt good.
“Tell me what you did to those assholes who sold her,” Warden said as he tapped the counter.
I grinned; oh, they’d paid. Vengeance was a bitch, and I owned her.
The woman stared at me. “I don’t have your sister.”
“Cousin,” I corrected.
“Still don’t have her. You say Warden sent you here? You’re not one of his.” Sapphire relaxed back in her chair.
I tapped my patch, and her eyes flicked briefly to it before dismissing it.
“Warden said you could help me.”
Sapphire leaned forward. “It is courtesy that if Warden wants me to help a brother, he calls me. He hasn’t, and I don’t tolerate disrespect. If you want our assistance, nomad, have your president show me respect.”
“I’m looking for a fifteen-year-old girl—sixteen next month,” I growled. “Courtesy be damned.”
“If I showed up at RBMC and did the same, what would Warden do? I may have a pussy, but don’t mistake me for one.” Sapphire rose. “There’s no kid here; I’ll tell you that much.”
“You won’t help,” I snarled.
“We will when Warden reaches out, as he should.” Sapphire walked out the door and left me fuckin’ hanging. What a total bitch. I punched in Warden’s number and waited.
“What’s up?” he asked as I headed to my bike.
I explained, barely holding on to my temper.
“Fuck, Sapphire’s right. She’s touchy because she thinks I disrespected her a while back, and this compounds the problem. I should have thought,” Warden replied.
“If anything happens to Brielle—”
