“Or loyal, protective, strong, stubborn, kind, generous,” Kiki pressed. I felt a blush hitting my cheeks.

“You said all that?” I asked Blue.

“I told the truth. There’s nothing wrong with that,” Blue replied.

“That’s how you see me?” I was surprised. Blue just smiled.

“I run a D/S sex club,” I said, suddenly determined to make Kiki see something bad in me.

Her lips curved into a smile. “Are you attempting to shock me? I was a sex worker for a year.”

My jaw dropped, and I glanced between Blue and Kiki, trying to decide if they were joking with me.

“I lost my job and had a young Blue to raise. I did what was necessary. Blue knows about it. I hide nothing from him,” Kiki stated.

“Holy crap, I wanna be you when I grow up,” I murmured, whilst Kiki beamed at me.

“Now, what was wrong with Loretta? She appeared quite promising,” Kiki questioned.

“There’s a family called the Gerrits…” Blue began and broke off as Kiki clucked her tongue.

“I’m aware of who they are.”

“Well, Loretta belonged to them,” I said and explained what had happened. Kiki needed to know the truth.

As we climbed onto my bike—somehow, I’d ended up staying while they interviewed three other women—my phone beeped. I whipped it out and saw it was from one of the club’s day managers—Zena. It was an SOS, and I dialled immediately.

“Zena?”

“We’ve got bible-bashers here; there are around fifty, and they’ve stormed the estate. I’ve shut the club entrances, but they’re blocking people from getting to their cars, and they’re trying to take photographs of them. We have twenty clients here right now.”

“Okay, I’m on my way. Advise the clients to remain in the building. We’ll deal with this,” I replied. Blue swung up behind me, and I roared off.

I punched in Cyber’s number.

“Need you at the club; we’ve got multiple people trying to take pictures of the cars there to expose the clients,” I said.

“I’m on my way already; I saw them arrive through the security cameras. I’m five minutes away,” Cyber answered.

“Can you scramble them?”

“As soon as I’m in range, I can fuck up all electrical devices; that’s not a problem,” Cyber replied. I began breathing easier. All electrical devices responded to her. There wouldn’t even be a pixel remaining once Cyber had finished.

I raced along the road with Blue clinging to me and reached the lane leading to The Royal Lounge. I roared into the parking lot and saw the crowd.

Heads turned, and several began heading over. They waved banners and placards, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Turn back! Save your soul! This is a den of iniquity,” voices cried.

Blue and I shoved past and threaded our way through the mass of people. Security moved as I reached the steps. Those chanting grew louder, and I waited, arms folded, staring at them.

“Whore! Jezebel. Slut!” they called, and I smirked.

“This is private property. You have five minutes to leave, and then I’ll call the police and make citizen arrests.”

“This is a whorehouse! It goes against God’s will! This is a criminal enterprise. Only deviants visit here.” The voice hit me hard. Trauma rushed through me, and I stiffened as my knees wobbled and my legs threatened to give out. Blue reached out, sensing my emotions, and placed a calm hand on my shoulder. I searched through the crowd and found her. She looked no different from ten years ago.

The group kept chanting, demanding those inside to come out and face the shame. They were steadily whipping themselves into a frenzy, and security seemed tense. None of them were aware of the emotions I was experiencing.
