The door to the fraternity house was unlocked. Carter felt it was safe to enter, despite the fact that two guys were hanging out in the living room, playing a computer game on the oversized TV. He guessed that while Todd had most likely gone to the hospital to get his knife wound seen to, he wouldn’t have gone to the police to report the incident. He couldn’t very well tell them that he’d been in the middle of raping a girl, when Carter had attacked him. The police would have not only arrested Todd, but also shown up at Julie’s to take a statement.
When one of the guys in the living room looked at them entering the house, Carter waved. “Hey, just here to check up on Todd. How’s he doing?”
“He’s a literal pain in the butt,” the guy replied.
His partner laughed. “Good one, bro.”
“Is he upstairs?” Carter asked. “I forgot which room is his…”
“Third floor, last on the left.”
“Thanks, bro,” Carter said.
He nodded to Julie, and together, they went upstairs and found Todd’s room. The door was ajar. They entered without knocking.
Todd lay on his stomach on the bed, wearing a thin bathrobe and probably nothing else.
“Hey bro, get me some ice, will you?” Todd said without looking over his shoulder.
Carter exchanged a look with Julie. “Yeah, not gonna happen, Todd,” Carter said.
Todd turned his head to look at them, while rolling around in a hurry, and obviously forgetting his sore butt. “Ouch, ouch!”
The sight and sounds filled Carter with Schadenfreude.
“What the fuck!” Todd cursed and tried to get up, but the pain made him slow, and he could only roll back onto this front gradually. “Get the fuck away from me!”
Carter approached and glared at him. “Just as soon as you give me back what you’ve stolen.”
“I didn’t steal anything!” Todd protested.
Julie approached from the other side of the bed. “Give them back!” she demanded, then balled her hand into a fist and punched his butt right where the knife wound was.
Todd yelled out in pain. Carter cast a look back at the door, but Julie had planned ahead and closed it so the sound wouldn’t carry in the large house.
“Where are my watches?” Carter ground out and bent down. “You’ve got three seconds, or I’ll get out my knife. And this time, I’m going for the family jewels. Do you understand me?”
Todd’s eyes filled with pure fear. Just like Carter had expected.
“There.” He pointed to his closet. “In the second drawer on the left.”
“Julie,” Carter said, while keeping an eye on Todd.
Julie went to the closet and opened the specified drawer, retrieved something from it, and then turned around. She held Carter’s black time travel watch in her hand.
Carter turned his face back to Todd. “Where is the silver one?” He grabbed Todd by his hair and jerked his head up.
“It’s not even working. It’s just some junk.”
Carter pulled on the idiot’s hair, until Todd whimpered. “I asked you a question: where the fuck is my silver watch?”
Tears rimmed Todd’s eyes. “Steve. He took it.”
“And where the fuck is Steve?”
“Not here. He left.”
“I’ve had it with this jerk,” Julie cursed and jumped on the bed.
