Ryder grinned. “Thanks, Monique. I’m sure they’ll be running roughshod over us soon enough.”
Scarlet chuckled. “How much trouble can two little boys really be? Look at them, they look like little angels.”
“That’s what they said about my brothers and me too,” Monique said with a smirk.
“The three of you were adorable as babies, but you’re right, you guys were a handful,” Maya said with a smile at Monique, her gaze zeroing in on Grayson’s arm around Monique’s waist. Her eyebrows lifted in surprise, but she didn’t comment on what she saw.
“We’d better get going,” Grayson said, then nodded at Gabriel. “Meeting room in thirty minutes?”
Gabriel nodded, and Brandon turned to him. “I’ll join you guys too.”
“Thanks, Brandon, appreciate it.”
Brandon wasn’t a Scanguards employee. Rather, he was a partner and investor who’d joined them after Gabriel had turned him into a vampire in order to save his life. A very successful entrepreneur as a human, Brandon King had adapted to life as a vampire very quickly. The fact that his daughter had blood-bonded with Ryder, a vampire-satyr hybrid, had certainly helped make the transition smooth. And now, he was a grandfather of two vampire-satyr hybrids, though he didn’t look old enough for that, and could easily pass for a man in his late forties.
When the elevator arrived, Grayson was glad to see that it was empty. He pulled Monique inside, and punched the button for the top floor, before drawing her against his body, his arms imprisoning her.
“Damn, babe, right now I wish I could toss you on the nearest flat surface, and—”
“—and bury your cock inside me?” she interrupted and whirled him around so his back was against the wall, and she was pressing her lush curves to his hard body. “I didn’t realize that seeing newborn babies can make a guy horny.”
“It’s not the babies.” Though the sight had stirred his heart unexpectedly. “It’s knowing that Ryder drinks Scarlet’s blood when he makes love to her. And she drinks his.”
Monique’s lips parted, and a breath rushed from her throat. Her eyes began to shimmer golden, and when he took his next breath, he could smell the aroma of her arousal as it wrapped around him like velvet ropes trying to shackle him. He welcomed those shackles, in fact, he yearned for them.
Monique lifted her lips to his, offering them, and he captured them, kissing her passionately. When the elevator beeped, Grayson reluctantly severed the kiss, but held Monique for a moment longer, his forehead resting against hers. “I wish we—”
She put a finger to his lips. “I know.”
His cell phone rang, and he pulled it from his pocket. “It’s Patrick.” He accepted the call, while he and Monique exited the elevator. “Hey, what did you find?”
“Hey. There was blood in the van, and both Benjamin and I are pretty sure that it’s vampire blood. It’s dried, so it’s hard to tell if it was Dad’s, but I’m assuming it was.”
“Did you spot any of the vampires you had pictures for?”
“No, no sighting of Abel, Matt, or Rufus, but that doesn’t mean they’re not here. There are definitely a few possible locations where Abel could hide Dad and Cain. We’d need to check them out, but we didn’t wanna be too obvious and tip them off.”
“Good work. Good news is that the location spell that Wesley did, points us to the same area as Rufus’s cell phone. At least his last known location. It’s currently switched off.”
“So, what now? You’re gonna send a few teams out to help us check out all the empty buildings?”
“No. Let’s go with drones and infrared cameras. It’s safer.”
“All right, you’re the boss, bro.”
“Thanks, Patrick. Come back to HQ. We’re meeting to work out a rescue plan.”
“Be there soon,” Patrick promised and disconnected the call.
Grayson put his cell phone back into his pocket, before casting Monique an encouraging look. “Let’s go see Quinn. He can organize the drones.”
Quinn, a blond vampire who looked barely a day over twenty-five, even though he was over two hundred years old, was in his office on the executive floor.
“Hey, what do you need?” he asked after greeting him and Monique.
“We’ve got a possible location where Abel might be keeping Cain and Samson. We need to send in drones with infrared cameras. Can you get that organized?”
“Sure, show me the general location on the map,” Quinn said and pulled up a map on his computer screen.
