Grayson stared at his and Monique’s family, who were all assembled in the living room of his parents’ house. Monique’s telepathic message made him feel relieved and petrified in equal parts. Relieved, because he knew where she was, and petrified, because of what would happen to her if he didn’t get to her in time.

“Abel has Monique locked up at the Russian Hill rental property.”

“Where we stayed?” Faye asked, her eyes wide.

“That’s the last place I would have guessed,” Isabelle said.

“That’s probably why. We have to hurry.” Grayson motioned to Patrick. “Patrick, send a text to all vampires and hybrids at Scanguards, and have them assemble a block away from the property.”

He was already hurrying toward the door.

“Grayson, you can’t just charge in there without a plan,” Isabelle cautioned him.

He looked over his shoulder. “There’s no time for a plan. Abel is going to rape her.”

Shocked gasps echoed in the room.

“I’m coming with you,” Isabelle said and rushed to the door to the garage. “I’ll get the weapons.”

“I’m coming too,” Striker said from the hallway.

Grayson nodded. “Appreciate it, Striker.”

Zane and Cooper already checked their weapons, and nodded, indicating that they were ready to fight.

Patrick typed away on his cell phone. “Message is sent. Let’s go.”

Before Grayson reached the door, Orlando called out to him. “I’ll help too.”

Grayson didn’t get a chance to protest, because Isabelle was entering the foyer from the door to the garage.

“Out of the question, Orlando,” she snapped, strapping a gun to her hip, and tucking a stake into her pocket. “You’re not even half healed.”

“I can fight,” he ground out, casting her a petulant look.

“I prefer you stay here with my parents, and protect them. We’re taking Robbie and Conrad with us.” Without waiting for a reply, Isabelle headed to the door.

Grayson was the first one to leave. Outside, he ordered the two guards, “You’re coming with us. We have a hostage situation. Let’s go.”

“I’ll drive,” Zane said with a voice that brooked no refusal.

Grayson nodded, then looked at Isabelle. “Isa, take Robbie, Conrad, and Cooper in the SUV. You know the way. The rest will go with Zane and me in the blackout van.” He tossed Zane the keys.

Once in the van, Zane kicked down the gas pedal, and raced toward Russian Hill. “We need to know how many hostiles we’re dealing with.”

Grayson nodded. “Okay. Let me concentrate.”

He took a few deep breaths, calming himself, then focused on Monique to connect with her.

Monique, we’re on our way.

“ETA?” he asked Zane.

“Nine minutes.”

Again, he concentrated on Monique.
