Patrick faced her. “I can’t let you come with us. You might be a werewolf, but you have no control over your shifting. We’re going in after dark, which means the moon will be out, and you’ll be forced to shift, if you want to or not.”

She knew that, and it scared her, but she also knew that she could help.

“The Gallaghers won’t hurt me. You said it yourself: they want me to be part of their pack. We can use that to our advantage.”

“What advantage? Do you really think I’d risk them snatching you?”

“It won’t happen. I won’t leave your side the entire time.” She put her hands on his hips and pulled him closer. It was time to play dirty to get him to agree to her request. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

Patrick gasped and let out a surprised laugh. “You actually think you can seduce me so I’ll let you come?”

She winked at him. “I’ll let you come first.” She slid her hand over the front of his pants.

“Damn it, Fallon, you’re manipulating me.”

She squeezed him and felt his cock grow thicker under her palm. “Apparently it’s working.”

He put his hand on the back of her head and drew her face to him. Without another word he sank his lips onto hers and kissed her, robbing her of her breath. She allowed herself to melt into his embrace, pressing her body to his, his hard muscles crushing her breasts.

The kiss lasted only a few seconds before Patrick severed it.

“Alright, you get to come with us, under one condition.”

“What condition?”

“You’ll drink my blood.”

Her forehead furrowed, but before she could ask why, he continued, “Last time when you drank my blood, you were able to control the wolf and hold off the shifting for a while.”

She stared at him, surprised, but she had to admit that he was probably right. His blood had helped her fight the wolf inside her.

“But I can’t bite you.”

She showed him her teeth. They were too blunt to tear into his skin.

“Don’t worry. You’ll drink from me like all the other human blood-bonded women drink from their mate: I’ll cut into my skin with my claws or my fangs, and you’ll suck on the wound.”

He brought his face closer to hers, and added, “And one more thing: if I get in trouble during the mission, don’t try to save me. Run to the closest vampire you see and get their protection. Got it?”

He had to be crazy to think that she would leave him if anything bad happened to him. But she was wise enough to know that she couldn’t tell him that she would do everything in her power to rescue him, or he would lock her in a cell and leave her here.

So, she did what she had to do and lied, “Got it.”

She leaned in to kiss him, but to her surprise, Patrick didn’t respond. Instead, he released her from his arms and turned to the door. Before she could figure out what he was planning to do, she heard the door lock click.

A breath escaped her when she realized what he intended to do. “Oh.”

Patrick pivoted and approached. “Now, now, Dr. Doyle,” he teased. “I hope you’re not gonna rescind that little offer you made me. Shall I remind you?”

“You mean right now? But we have to get ready for the mission…”

Her voice trailed off as he stopped only inches from her.

“Everybody is doing what they need to do. You and I, we’ve got a couple of hours.”

She pointed to the door. “But your colleagues on this floor… they might hear us… or smell us.”

He grinned. “And your point is?”
