Nyx nods and opens the door for Ash. I swear it is like all of these women live in the same delusion because she looked at me like I was her savior too except this time, I don’t let her say anything, I just aim and fire. Walking out of the room before she finishes falling to the ground.
“Let’s get out of here. I want to get home to my family.”
Chapter Thirty-Five
Rose
Six Months Later
I swear this man is trying to fucking kill me. It should be fucking illegal for him to walk around without a shirt on anywhere, let alone my barn. Like why do you have to take care of my horses without a shirt on. It is just not fair. My pussy has been bitching at me for not letting it get its way and caving into Caleb when he clearly wants to have sex. So maybe this is my karma or maybe he just wants to see how long it will take me to give in. He could also be blowing off steam since he has also been without sex just as long as I have been.
We have gotten so much closer these last six months. We’ve been learning about each other, getting to know each other's families. We have been on dates, on bike rides. It really has been truly amazing. The only complaint I have and I know he has is that we have not gone further than making out. Which was my choice, I know this, but I wanted to build our foundation on more than just sex this time. I wanted to see if there was something there beyond that physical stuff. What these six months have shown me is there is.
We laugh together, we talk about the hard shit, we parent together and truthfully we just like being together. I let him move out of the guesthouse about a month ago. I had already had a room designed for Mason. He helped me pick out what he wanted in it. But it took me a while to agree to let Caleb move in. I didn’t want to forgive him too quickly even though, truthfully, I think I forgave him after that first chat we had at the hospital. I agreed with him when he said that his trauma was no excuse for how he behaved, but I understood better. I know how certain things can make you see the world and even though that isn’t a reason for being the way he was, I understood.
He really has worked through some of his aversions to telling people about his thoughts and his feelings. He finally opened up to Devil and that was the first time I saw that man cry. These big bad bikers act all tough, but when it comes to their family, they don’t hide their feelings. He was so torn up and really blamed himself for everything that Caleb went through and the fact that he never took him to talk to someone. Caleb and him talk more and more every day and we do biweekly dinners at their house. His siblings are all amazing and plus I love that Peyton, Whip and Fang are always there as well.
Caleb did end up talking to Liz and apologizing for all the things he had said and thought about her. She understood everything and forgave him as well. They are not going to have a mother and son bond because they are closer in age than Devil and her, but they are friends. She has been truly amazing, both Devil and her have. They have really helped a lot with Reid as we have been working on getting all my businesses up and running.
“Would you stop drooling over there and maybe come help me take care of your horses?” Caleb says as he breaks me out of my train of thought.
“Why would I do that? You’re doing such a good job, plus I get a nice little show. Why is it that you can’t do all this with a shirt on?”
He laughs as he scoops the hay up and puts it in the stall.
“Well, every time I have one on it gets all sweaty and fucking nasty. So I just took away that part. Plus, I know you like what you see and I have to say I love watching you drool over me.”
“I bet you do. Who all do you have left to do? I can help.”
“Nah, I was just kidding. This is the last stall. I was thinking that after I take a shower you and I can go for a ride on your babies here and have a picnic. My dad said he was going to keep Mason and Reid for the night. So we have the place to ourselves. I thought we could get a nice date night in, just the two of us.”
“I’d like that a lot. But I get to ride Magnolia.”
Caleb sighs and looks at me, “You know that girl is my favorite, why do you always try to steal her away from me?”
“Gosh, who would’ve thought the big bad biker who loved to ride motorcycles would become such a cowboy. For your information, Maggie is my first horse. She is my sweet little lady and I want a little time with her. Thank you very much. You can take Whiskey Sunrise. You are the perfect match for each other.”
“You think that that is an insult, but I am just going to take that as a compliment. He’s smart, he’s fast, he’s protective of you and he’s a great listener.”
I laugh at that, “He’s also stubborn and opinionated. He’s you in horse form.”
Caleb puts the pitchfork down and walks over to me, bending his head to look me in the eye, “Again, a compliment.”
Before I can respond he grabs me by the back of the neck and pulls me in for a crushing kiss. When I go to deepen the kiss he pulls away and I groan.
“Ah-ah-ah, you need to be a good girl and keep it in your pants. I’m going to go take a shower.” He says before he walks around me and heads towards the barn door.
“Do you want company?” I yell at him as he walks.
“Not for this one, baby.” He yells back over his shoulder at me.
I throw my head back and groan out in frustration and he just keeps walking and laughing.
Within the next few hours we clean up and get ready for our date. We get our horses saddled and walk them out of the barn.
“So where are we having this picnic?”
“I have everything set up by that willow tree, near where you have the wedding venue.”
