Jeremiah nods like we just approved a budget proposal. “Good. I'll call him this week.”
“And then we'll split the cost,” Ronan adds.
Jeremiah turns toward him. “We'll discuss that.”
“We already did.”
“No. You stated an opinion.”
“It was the correct one.”
Alexis leans toward me. “They're going to be exhausting together.”
I watch Jeremiah and Ronan stare each other down while Carter starts laughing and Micah looks like he'd happily let them argue for another hour.
“Yeah,” I whisper.
Then Ronan looks at me again.
His gaze drops down my body, and my stomach flips.
“Extremely fucking exhausting,” I repeat.
Chapter twenty-four
Bardic Summons
Dex

Unfortunately, dignity has never been a core value of mine.
Neither has reheating pizza.
It changes the texture.
That's science.
I'm halfway through my second slice when my phone buzzes beside the box.
I ignore it.
It buzzes again.
Then a third time.
“Fucking what?”
I wipe grease off my fingers on my sweatpants and grab it.
And stare at the name on the screen.
AUSTIN FUCKING FLETCHER
I almost drop the pizza.
Okay.
