“Yes, Sir.”
I watch as Micah slow shutters his eyes and inhales through his nose.
Ironically, Ronan’s eyes close slowly, too.
Cami chokes on her drink.
Griffin laughs—actually fucking laughs.
I grin and pick up my dice.
This is going to be a fantastic night.
I roll.
“Seventeen.”
“Twenty-three with your modifier,” Ronan calculates quickly. “Suddenly, you find a hidden door on the western wall.”
“See? The fast math? That’s why I keep you around.”
“You don’t keep me anywhere.”
Cami’s mouth twitches into an evil smile. “Pretty sure it’s the other way around.”
My eyes snap toward her.
She gives me the sweetest fucking smile.
Oh, Dollface.
You have chosen violence.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish,” I warn.
Her smile becomes a Cheshire grin. “Oh, I’m not worried about finishing.”
Micah makes a strangled sound beside her as he tries to contain the laugh.
Ronan stares at Cami—like in a way that makes me feel like we shouldn’t witness it.
Griffin looks down at the table, but his shoulders are shaking from his quiet laugh.
“You people are impossible tonight,” Ronan mutters.
“You built this party,” Micah teases.
“I built a campaign. Whatever this is happened without my consent.”
Cami lifts a hand, drawing all the attention to her. “Actually, I’m pretty sure you’ve all explicitly consented to quite a lot of whatever this is.”
There’s a beat of complete silence while smiles form.
But then Griffin loses it.
Not a polite chuckle.
Not one of those little amused exhales he does when he doesn’t want to encourage me.
