Ronan apologizes with a smile of his own. He pulls me close and kisses my temple again before he leaves us.
Griffin’s hand is in my hair, pulling me to him before the door even clicks all the way shut. The kiss is deep and hungry.
“I love you,” he whispers against my lips.
“I love you too.”
After he kisses me again thoroughly and deeply, he pulls back and presses a soft kiss to my forehead.
“Seriously,” I begin with a small laugh, “who are you and what did you do with my husband?”
He scoffs with humor. “I’m still the same man, Cami. I just accepted some things that took me a while to accept.” He brushes a tendril of hair away from my face. “And hopefully that was good for you and Ronan, because it was for me.”
“That was… that was definitely good, Griffin, mind-blowing actually,” I assure him with a smile.
“Good.” Another kiss to my forehead. “Come sleep in my room?”
“Oh, is my room uncomfortable for you now?” I tease.
“No, baby,” he assures me seriously, “I just want to make my room smell like sex, too.”
I smack him playfully, laughing before he takes my hand and leads me out of my room.
Chapter thirteen
Party Roles
Micah
There are certain conversations Ronan and I apparently only know how to have while slowly poisoning ourselves on the back porch.
It started a long time ago—before Cami, before Dex and I stopped pretending we were just friends who occasionally looked at each other like we wanted to climb inside each other’s skin. Back when most of our problems were easier to ignore because nobody had started fucking anybody else in the house yet.
Now there are five of us, overlapping relationships, and Ronan has been staring at the same cigar for long enough that the ash finally drops onto his jeans.
He brushes it away.
I take another drag and wait, the December morning air cold against my skin.
Ronan usually waits until he’s ready to talk—so do I.
I don’t push him, and he doesn’t push me.
Finally, he says, “Griffin surprised me.”
I turn my head.
There are about seventeen directions that statement could go after what happened last night.
“Good surprised?”
“Very.”
That answer comes quickly enough that I smile.
Ronan notices. “Don’t.”
I take another drag. “You fucked my girlfriend with him. I think I’m allowed to be a little curious.”
