“What does that have to do with Corinthians?”

“Jonathan had a son,” Trey answered. “He was dating Psalms.”

“Say that shit again.” The Franklins were a big family. Not all of them were wrapped up in the bullshit with Robert and Logan, which is why Uncle Bradon was cool with December and Nine being friends.

“I don’t have all the details, but you heard me. Jonathan sent his son to collect his pet, and some shit happened that I still can't figure out.”

“Jonathan sent his son to collect his pet?” I repeated it to make sure I heard him correctly. “And they ended up in a relationship.”

“Yeah.”

“And now they’re all dead.”

“Most of them,” Trey said.

“He was dating Psalms?”

“Yes.”

I finished washing my hands, dried them, then leaned against the bathroom counter. “And he lived to talk about this until he was killed?”

“Joshua is still alive,” Trey repeated. I heard him the first time but didn’t fully believe it. “He’s fucked up pretty bad, but he’s alive and not saying a fucking word. That nigga is traumatized.”

“Trey, this shit ain’t makin’ no sense.”

“I can’t prove it. Hell, even if I could, I don’t think I would want to, but I’m pretty sure Corinthians killed them,” he said, and I looked at the phone again. “Her and Psalms. I know they did it.”

“Cori is killing people?” I asked, not liking what I was hearing. “When the fuck did this happen?” I’d intentionally kept my distance since going to see her after she had Judah. And now I was regretting it more than I normally did. Trey was my eyes and ears.

“Do you blame them? After all the shit Psalms went through as a kid at the hands of Jonathan. Do you blame them for killing them all?”

“No,” I answered. I wiped my hands over my face and sighed.

“Me either. Now it has these niggas on edge, Robert in particular. He’s moving funny, saying shit like he wants to see his pet. He wants to talk to her, see the baby.”

“Not happening,” I said, shaking my head. “Keep him the fuck away from them.”

“I’ve been trying, but I’m being transferred. They are going to be on their own. I mean yeah, they got their cousins, and Nine is there. But, Robert will kill them without a second thought if it means he can get his hands on them.”

“Fuck!” I dropped my head. “When do you leave?” Trey was FBI; he worked out of the KC office for years, and now he was being transferred at the worst time.

“I go undercover in a few days,” he answered. “Look, this nigga Tyrell? He’s just as obsessed with Corinthians as Robert is. I sent you a file for you to look at. Four, if I’m gone…”

“I got it,” I said, rubbing my forehead. “I appreciate the heads up. I’m about to start making moves. Uncle Bradon is either going to have to get bored or deal with the fact that I’m going to get my hands on his brother and finally kill him.”

“Let me get off this phone; my new wife just walked in,” he said.

“Wife?”

“Undercover shit,” he grunted. “I’ll holla at you before I leave. Later.”

He hung up, and I turned off the light, grabbed my phone, then left the bathroom. I wasn’t going back to sleep. My mind was racing. I went to my office and pulled up the file Trey said he sent me. “Tyrell Cartell,” I said, looking at his name. I let out a laugh as I read his file; Trey had gone above and beyond on what he’d supplied me. I could kill this nigga with ease, and no one would know, but seeing that SP employed him gave me an in that I didn’t know I wanted until now.

I looked at my watch and noted the time. Nine was probably up working. He’d only lasted two months without Cross before he went back for her.

I swiped my screen, then pulled up his contact information and called him.

“Hello?” he answered.
