I scoffed at the idea. “There’s no way. This place is packed, and there’s only one exit. We’ll be leaving together—none of that covert shit where one of us goes first—so people are bound to notice.”

She frowned at me, then her eyes, very deliberately, moved to the table where the groom and his bride sat.

I rolled my eyes. “Please. If you’re trying to avoid them, trust me when I say they’ll be too preoccupied with each other to notice. Hell, out of everyone here, they probably want to get away and be alone more than anybody. They’re only sticking around because they have to.”

She pursed her lips and sent another look toward them, eyes almost wistful. Then determination overcame her expression, and she turned back to me.

“Let’s go.”

Before I could react, she stopped dancing, took my arm and tugged me behind her as we made a beeline for the exit. I hurried my steps until I was walking beside her, then I was the one pulling her behind me.

If she wasn’t going to say no, then I was going to have my fun without holding back. The morning after would be tomorrow’s problem, though if things ended up badly, I had a feeling future me would be cursing me.

“Slow down,” Scarlett said with a giggle, jogging a little to keep up. “I can't speed around all that comfortably in heels, you know.”

“Oh,” I glanced back as I slowed, my gaze dropping to her feet. She was holding up the skirt of her dress, so I could see her stiletto heels, and I winced. “Sorry about that. You must be sick of those things; you’ve spent most of today standing up.”

She sighed. “Yeah, well. Hopefully, it will be the last time I play bridesmaid, so I’ll live.” Then her look turned mischievous. “You know, if all you want is to get me alone, there’s no rush. I’m yours for the whole night, after all,” she purred.

Mine for the whole night, I thought. Words I’d have given a limb to hear not so long ago and now that she had said them all I could do was groan quiet enough that she didn’t hear, tempted to pick up the pace a little. There was an elevator not too far from the hall, so why did it feel like we were going through the whole floor just to find it?

But then there it was, and I couldn’t help hurrying just a little. I hit the call button and waited. Thank fuck I thought ahead and booked a room for the night. I waited impatiently as the doors slid slowly open, tugging her in after me when the gap was wide enough to fit the both of us.

I couldn’t wait for the door to close properly, and someone might have caught us in a compromising situation, but I didn’t care. I pushed her against the wall of the elevator and pressed my lips against hers. I was trying to control myself, so the kiss started out soft.

Scarlett wasn’t in the mood for soft.

She moaned against my lips, her arms snaking around my shoulders as she plastered her body against mine, nipping at my lower lip. I let out a guttural groan as I opened my mouth and her tongue swept in, tracing the inside of my mouth, running along my tongue. I tend to pride myself on how quickly I can turn a woman on with nothing but a kiss, but right then, if I weren't feeling so good, my pride would have shattered.

Why did I never try this before?

My hands slid down Scarlett’s back, then circled to the flare of her hips. As our mouths pressed together, parting only to meet again in a kiss more passionate than the last, I held her hips fast. I barely noticed the doors closing and the elevator starting to rise.

I was good at breathing through kisses, I’d become a pro at it, but I had to pull away from her at some point because I felt breathless. Instead, I ducked my head to kiss her pale neck. She moaned, tipping her head back and giving me all the access I needed.

“You’re so fucking beautiful, Scarlett,” I murmured against her neck, nipping the skin and making her gasp. “You never have to doubt that.”

She let out a low, throaty chuckle. “Even my pale ass skin?”

I sucked on her neck and she yelped. But her body trembled and she leaned even further into my body, and I grinned.

“Beautiful,” I said simply.

And she really was. The pale skin she seemed to be so scornful of was perfect for her. It was the best kind of contrast to her dark hair, combed to a shine and left to fall in curls around her bare shoulders, and her equally dark brown eyes. Her body was a work of perfection, curved and built for pleasure.

It didn’t take a fucking genius to figure out why she had a string of men after her. Why they never stuck around, I had no idea, because as far as I could see, she had a good personality to match. She was a headstrong woman that knew what she wanted and went for it.

“I can't believe we’re doing this,” she murmured.

It was enough to get me to pull back, and I met her eyes as I panted. The look on her face made me moan and lean in for another kiss. There were two spots of pink high on her cheeks, her eyes shone with her desire, her lips flushed and wet, a little swollen from our kisses. I wanted so much more… but I made myself pause.

“If you still want to change your mind, you can,” I said quietly, reluctantly. I didn’t want her to pull away. Scarlett was a relationship girl, and I knew if she let herself think too much, she would talk herself out of any kind of involvement with me. “I saw you drinking before. Please tell me this isn’t just the influence of alcohol, Scarlett. If it is, I’ll stop right now.”

Her eyes widened in alarm, arms tightening around my neck. “No!” she gasped, pressing herself even closer to me than before. “What do you want me to do, Zach? Sign a damn contract?”

She frowned a little, but the look of desire never left her eyes. She leaned up on the tips of her toes, and her lips brushed against mine. It was hard keeping myself still when all I wanted was to kiss her some more.

“This is what I want,” she whispered, her lips brushing against mine as she spoke and making both of us moan. “I want you to fuck me, Zach, like you mean it.”
