“Faster,” she whispered.

“Just relax.” He continued his slow, torturous movements, her body pinned beneath the weight of his, and she couldn’t get enough.

Liv let out a sob, and Matt answered by picking up his speed.

“I knew you’d feel this good,” he whispered in her ear. He let go of her hands and grabbed onto her hips, holding her still while he moved, rocking deeper and faster in a raw, primitive rhythm that stole her breath. Every movement of his body wound her tighter, and she clamped her hands onto his shoulders to hang on.

Matt’s mouth collided with hers, muffling her gasps and moans, until the sound of his groan against her lips sent her over the edge. A wave of pleasure cascaded through her as her body clenched around him. She cried out his name.

“Liv—” he whispered as the ripples of her contractions drew out his release and she felt him pulse inside her. He stilled, eyes closed and head back, powerful and beautiful. It was the most erotic thing she’d ever seen.

Liv stared at him while they both struggled for air. The hard lines of his chest rose and fell, and those chocolate brown eyes stared back at her, as if he could see straight into her soul. As if they had some deep, unbreakable connection.

In the back of her mind, she thought maybe this wasn’t how she was supposed to feel during rebound sex.

Matt lowered his mouth to hers and kissed her softly, running his knuckles along her cheek.

She wondered if he’d pull away now, if suddenly this would all feel awkward. She had no experience with one-nighters.

But Matt dragged her with him when he rolled onto his back, anchoring her against his side. When his breathing returned to normal, he pulled off the condom and shifted away from her. He placed a light kiss on her shoulder before getting out of bed and heading for the bathroom.

Liv turned to face the window and curled up, staring out at the churning sea and wondering if she was supposed to get up and get dressed since this was…she didn’t even know what to call it. Meaningless sex? Wasn’t that what she’d signed up for? Only it didn’t feel all that meaningless.

She hadn’t known him long, but he already knew more about her—the real her—than any man she’d dated. And he wanted her anyway.

He wasn’t at all what she’d first thought either. Caveman, yes. Asshole, no. He was thoughtful and funny, and he loved his family enough to sacrifice a successful career for them. He brought her home in the storm, cooked for her, gave her the best orgasms of her life, and seemed to really care that she felt every bit as good as he did. He even liked her photography.

And he didn’t want any more from her than what they’d just done. She needed to remember that.

It was just as well. She’d be going home soon anyway.

But shit. She was staying in his house tonight, and now she had no idea how to behave.

Well, no matter what happened next, she wasn’t the least bit sorry. She couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face, and hoped Matt didn’t come back to bed before she finished feeling all glowy about the whole thing. Because she’d never felt like this after sex before.

A few moments later, she heard Matt’s footsteps and felt the bed dip behind her. He pulled her body up against his, until she could feel the tickle of his chest hair against her back, and covered them both with a pillowy comforter.

Liv sighed, feeling deeply contented and deeply concerned at the same time.

“Matt?”

“Mmmm.” His tone was lazy and soft, a low rumble against her skin that actually, unbelievably, started heat pooling between her legs again.

“Do you want me to stay?” she asked. “Or go back to my room?”

“Relax, sweetheart. I’ve got you. Get some rest and then I’ll make us dinner.”

Matt

A grumbling sound dragged Matt back to consciousness. Only this time it was his stomach, not the storm outside, reminding him how hungry he was.

Morning light streamed in through his bedroom window and bathed Liv in a soft gray glow. She looked deliciously rumpled and relaxed. Her legs were tangled with his, and her head rested on his shoulder with her hair draped wildly over his chest. His dick stirred, apparently at complete odds with his stomach over what should happen next.

Judging by the number of condom wrappers strewn across the floor, his dick was winning the battle.

Around dinnertime last night, Matt had slipped out of bed while Liv was still asleep. He’d already set the pasta boiling when she walked into the kitchen barefoot, wearing one of his button-down shirts. And nothing underneath. It hung open just enough that he could see a sliver of every part of her he wanted to touch all over again. The pale skin, the curve of her breast, a flash of auburn hair between her thighs.
