“Almost done with a client,” he whispered. “Then I’m all yours, I promise.”

I nodded, trailing after him as we headed inside. Greyson led me through a maze of hallways to his office, with a wall of windows overlooking the city. A large black desk spanned one wall, kept tidy and organized. There wasn’t even a stray pen or a loose paper clip.

“Sorry about that,” Greyson said, hanging up at last. “It can be challenging to get the high profile clients to stop micromanaging me around every turn. Please, have a seat. What is that delicious smell?"

We settled into a pair of chairs at his desk and I began unloading the food.

“I brought you some of my favorites. Turkey pesto sandwiches, potato salad with bacon, mini brie tarts, and caramel pecan brownies.”

“You made all this?” he asked in disbelief.

I shrugged, smoothing a wrinkle out of my sundress.

“It’s my love language, I guess. Keeping the people I love well-fed. And that includes…my boyfriend,” I added, faltering on that last word.

Greyson and I had already agreed that we were officially an exclusive couple, but this was the first time since dating Simon that I had been romantically involved with anyone else. And it felt…strange.

Greyson arched an eyebrow with interest.

“Boyfriend. I like the sound of that.”

I bit the inside of my cheek to hide a smile. He took my wrist and tugged, guiding me out of my chair and into his lap. The weight of his palm curved around my leg, pushing the golden yellow fabric of my sundress higher. When he slid his hand between my thighs, I pushed at his chest.

“Greyson, the whole damn city can see us.”

He reached over and plucked a small silver remote from his desk, pushing a button. Dark blinds descended from the ceiling, covering the windows.

“Better?”

“Yes, thank you. Now you can continue to ravage me in your office.”

Greyson chuckled as he kissed me deeply, sliding his hand up my skirt again. When he cupped my pussy, I rolled my hips into his palm with a needy whine.

“God, you’re such a breath of fresh air, Jenny,” he murmured against my lips, tangling his fingers in my hair. “So warm and domestic. We could end every day like this, you know. A good meal, a bottle of wine. The kids away at boarding school, and you, waiting for me when I get home, tasting so sweet—”

I froze and grabbed Greyson’s wrist. A cold queasiness wriggled in my stomach.

“Boarding school?”

“For Mia and Casey,” he said simply. “And other children, if we decide to have them.”

I sputtered, blindsided by this development. Of course I wanted my kids to have every opportunity available to them, but…boarding school seemed to be a massive leap.

“We haven’t discussed that yet."

Greyson’s gaze flicked over me, noticing the way I nervously tugged my dress down.

“It’s still early to be thinking about it,” he admitted. “But it doesn’t hurt to start looking into these things, preparing for them. Admissions can be very selective about their students. I’ve compiled a preliminary list of schools so far—”

He pulled a file folder from the stack on his desk and handed it to me. I scanned the columns of text, but my brain was too frazzled to make sense of it.

“This was supposed to show that I have the best interests of Mia and Casey at heart,” Greyson said. “I’m planning for their future, something their father didn’t put much effort into.”

I sighed and scrubbed my hands over my face.

“Simon did the best he could. I know you’re just trying to help, but this is a huge decision and you just plowed ahead without me.”

Greyson nodded.
