“Let me, Jane,” he implored. Hesitantly, she allowed him to move until he was staring directly at her wetness. She could feel his breath against her sensitive flesh, and although she had felt a moment of uncertainty about allowing him access to her body, the moment was gone as she felt even more aroused.
“This is the most bonny thing I have seen in me life,” he breathed, wholly immersed in his lust. She was still processing his words when he delved between her thighs, attacking her sensitive nub with his tongue. A scream of pleasure left her lips, and she grabbed a pillow to stifle it. The waves of pleasure began again, but this time they were violent and wracked her whole body as though they might break her to pieces.
She could hear her voice saying his name between her legs, but she was not aware that she was speaking. When the final wave came, she crashed, but it felt like she was floating instead. Her throat was raw, and she struggled to breathe as her hands dug into his hair and pulled. Her eyes were open, but she could see nothing. When it ended, she could not tell if she was still alive. Her body felt lax, and all her senses were frazzled, taking their time before they began to work again.
Jane
Jane
“Jane.” It was the third time that she realized Alastair was calling her name as he raised himself from between her thighs. Her vision was hazy, but she could see the look of extreme satisfaction in his eyes before he kissed her, a strange but sweet taste on his lips. She kissed him back hungrily, licking his lips and taking her taste for herself.
“Ye are astoundin’,” he said. She gave him a lazy smile, touching his face tenderly.
“Why do I feel so sleepy now, Alastair?” she asked, her thoughts floating as she began to drift off. The last thing she heard was his breathy laugh as he gathered her up in his arms and hugged her, peppering her face with kisses. She fell asleep with a satisfied smile on her face.
Chapter Fifteen
The morning met Jane on her bed with no memory of how she had returned to her room. She blinked against the sunlight with confusion, looking at her familiar surroundings. Had she not been with Alastair the night before?
The only proof that it was not a dream was the pleasure and fulfillment that she still felt in her body. Memories came to her unbidden, and she covered her face in shame, remembering how she had arched herself, wantonly against his face.
She could not believe that it had happened. She had simply gone to confront him. How did she end up in his bed? Everything had happened too fast. She was too weak for him. Where had her senses gone? She had not even remembered any of the reasons why she should not have given in to her lusts.
She sat up in her bed quietly. It was imperative Mary did not find her in her present state. The governess would know what she had done the night before if she saw her.
It seemed Alastair had taken a page from her book and had carried her back in the dark of night. She took a deep breath, still blown away by all that had occurred. He had pleasured her the night before but had not sought his own pleasure by taking her. She blushed at the memory.
Look at ye, Jane, engaged to one man and seeking pleasure in another.
She groaned at the thought, grabbing her face between her hands. Although already decided that she would fight to cancel her engagement to William and go after her own happiness, it did not change the fact that she had not yet told Alastair of her relationship with his best friend. She felt a little guilty, as though stealing or doing some other despicable thing.
She had certainly been stealing the night before, stealing intimate moments with Alastair when Mary had already told her to forget her feelings for the man. If caught, it would have been equivalent to being caught in a robbery. She almost laughed at the thought.
However, she knew that it would not be funny if Mary caught her. She hurried into the bath to wash, cleaning her nightdress as well. She knew that Mary would visit her soon; it was a miracle that she had woken up so early in the first place.
In the bath, she wondered how William would react to the news that she no longer wanted to marry him. Should she tell him first before she spoke to her father? Although he did not give her any particularly romantic feelings or romantic attention, he was kind and friendly with her, and also very open. He deserved to be told. Besides, he said that he would announce their engagement when he returned, she would have to tell him before he had the chance.
It would have been much better if she had done all of these first before the intimate moments she had shared with Alistair, but there was simply no time. She had made the decision and immediately gone to him. There was no way to have prepared herself for the events that followed.
She thought about the strange way she had fallen asleep after his ministrations the night before. It was like nothing she had ever experienced. It was as though the pleasure had sucked all the strength out of her and left her empty.
She washed quickly and had just left the bath when the expected knock came on her door.
Jane focused on drying her hair, and a beat later, Mary stepped into her room. The governess froze at the doorway and stared with wide eyes. She chuckled at how shocked the governess looked. Mary had been waking her up for years and was justified in her look of amazement.
"You are awake already?" Mary asked, finally moving from the spot where she had been standing. Jane only laughed.
"I have been awake for a while already, I have even washed," she said with a grin before turning and gesturing to her closet.
"Please choose a dress for me to wear today. "
The governess did as asked, picking a dress and helping her into it. She also braided her hair into an elaborate style.
Jane raised her brow. Mary did not usually make such a fancy hair style unless she had an important event to attend. She turned to her with narrowed eyes, staring at her suspiciously.
"Mary… why did you fix my hair? Is there something that I’m not aware of?" she asked.
"You know me so well," the governess sighed tiredly, causing Jane to grin. "Your father is arriving in the Highlands today."
