“Ye were worried?” Alastair asked, raising a brow. Jane nodded earnestly, looking up at him.

“Oh, goodness, yes. I was worried that you would kiss me and notice my missing tooth,” she added.

Alastair’s jaw dropped slightly as Jane immediately blushed and slapped her hand over her mouth as though she had said something she should not have. He guffawed unapologetically at her expense while she stewed in embarrassment.

“Nay, I believe ye have a point, come me love, let me look for the space where yer tooth should be,” he teased, pursing his lips. She pushed his face away playfully but smiled shyly.

“I do think we should turn in for the evening and leave everyone else to enjoy the rest of the celebrations now.”

Alastair smiled softly, “Are ye tired of the festivities already?” he asked to which she nodded.

“I want to get out of this dress, and these shoes and I want to take off this crown of pins in my hair, I fear my neck might break, and my head will roll onto the floor soon,” she laughed.

Alastair laughed again and hugged her close. He glanced around them, finding that everyone was caught up in the merrymaking, and they were left to do as they please.

“Alright,” he said. “Let’s turn in before yer head truly does fall to the floor.”

He first helped Jane to her chambers, taking the numerous pins from her hair, and with her hair down, she looked even more stunning.

After he finished with her hair, she directed him on how to help her out of the horrifying contraption she called a corset. They spent several minutes laughing as he continued to make jokes, unable to fathom wearing such long skirts to ride horses and fighting without tripping.

He reveled in the simplicity of their relationship. They had just married and were still relating as friends. Once he had finished the problematic parts of her undressing, she needed a bath. He excused himself from her room, and she promised to come to his chambers when she was ready. His heart skipped a beat in anticipation at her words, and he left while she headed to her bath.

He washed thoroughly, taking his time in the bath to calm himself and try not to be overly excited. His body felt as though it might burst with the expectation of finally touching her. Now that he could, his excitement was too much.

However, the preparation to reign in his excitement proved useless when he stepped out of his bath, coming face to face with Jane standing by his bed.

He had no words to describe what she was wearing. The netted material clung to her body loosely draping over her curves and pooling at her feet. It left every inch of her open to his eyes, save for a flower pattern covering her breasts and womanhood.

His body reacted to her immediately as she just stood there, seductive despite the fiery redness in her cheeks.

"Jane…" he said, his voice sounding strangled.

This woman is going to be the death of me.

It had taken all her courage to wear Mary's gift for the night. She had put it on quickly before she could change her mind and draped herself in a cloak, hurrying to his room and discarding her covering, standing by his bed feeling naked.

His reaction was worth it, however, and chased all her doubts away. He had closed his eyes, something she came to realize he did when fighting for control. His body reacted to her also, the tent in the cloth around his waist saying everything.

"Jane…" he let out a strangled sound. "What are ye wearin'?"

"It is a wedding gift from Mary. She got it from a foreign merchant a few years ago. Do you like it?" she asked. His eyes were still closed, and he let out another strangled groan, causing a grin to spread across her features.

"Oh, I will take that to mean a yes, then," she teased, closing the distance between them and leaning up to press her lips to his.

His eyes shot open at the contact, and she could see the depth of the lust in his eyes as he grabbed her by the waist and kissed her. This kiss was different from any they had ever shared. It was passionate and hungry, as though he wanted nothing more than to swallow her whole. He kissed her even more desperately than in the forest the night they were ambushed.

When they came up for air, he continued to pepper kisses down her throat.

"Jane… Jane…" he muttered, sounding lost. Her hands went to his waist, and she removed the cloth he had tied, baring his body to her explorations. He groaned, holding her tighter when she wrapped her hand around his shaft.

"Jane…" he growled warningly. She kissed his jaw as she began to stroke him, making him hiss with pleasure as she caressed his sensitive skin, hard yet silky smooth in her hands.

"Let me…" she whispered to him, and he reluctantly let go of her, releasing himself to her ministrations. His eyes were closed again, and she kissed him softly.

"Alastair, look at me," she requested. His eyes opened, and he looked at her hungrily. She smiled at how he responded to her and slowly lowered herself to her knees before him. His eyes widened as he seemed to understand what she meant to do.
