“Get your hating ass off the call. Kairose, n—” He wasn’t even able to finish his sentence before he disappeared.

“Lying nigga,” Solei said and shook her head.

“I think it’s really sweet,” Ma added. “As long as you’re happy, that’s all that really matters.”

“Thanks, Ma.”

We got off the call and Ghost settled back in bed. My phone chimed. When I picked it up, I saw Brielle on the screen, sneaking into my office. That was another reason why I stayed away. Savion figured that they thought I was dead. As long as I didn’t show my face, they shouldn’t think otherwise. He said the snakes would eventually slither their way out, and he was right.

When I looked over, Ghost had dozed to sleep. This was my opportunity to sneak off and catch Brielle.

I tiptoed out of the bedroom up to the front door. My slippers were the only shoes I had up there, and that was because I took the trash out in them and didn’t feel like they were clean anymore.

Putting them on, I grabbed some keys and slipped out the door.

Brielle was still at the office by the time I got there. I knew that because her stupid ass didn’t show up on the camera leaving out.

I stepped off the elevator and saw a light coming from my office. Marching in that direction, I pushed the door in and aimed my pistol straight at Brielle. Her hands instantly went up in the air.

“You mind telling me what the fuck you were doing?”

“You’re not dead?”

She looked like she’d seen a ghost.

“Why? Should I be?”

She backed herself into the corner. “I’m sorry. I never wanted to do this.”

“Do what?” I took a couple steps toward her.

“They threatened me and my family. Said they’d kill us all if I didn’t cooperate.”

“Who?”

“If I tell you, then he’ll kill me.”

“And if you don’t, I’m gon’ torture you ’til you do.”

Tears streamed her face. I didn’t give a damn about her ass crying. It was over with for her, and she knew it.

“Fuck.” Her shoulders relaxed. “His name is Dominic Valenti.”

I squeezed the trigger, releasing a single bullet into Brielle. Her body dropped to the floor behind my desk, and I stepped over there where she lay. “Your mama should’ve taught you the meaning of loyalty.”

Pow!

“Bae?” I called out Luxe’s name and turned over in bed just to find her not there. Tossing the covers back, I got up and headed for the front of the house to find her. “Bae?” I called out her name again. Luxe wasn’t answering me. When I made it to the front of the house, I could see why, because she was nowhere to be found.

“Got dammit, Luxe.”

The mufucka had waited until I fell asleep to sneak out the house. Turning on my heels, I was about to go grab my phone to call Savion, when I heard the front door.

“Have you lost your fucking mind! Anything could’ve happened to you!” I barked as I turned around.

Luxe stood there with a file in her hand. She tossed it onto the coffee table. I eyed her before going over and picking it up to see what it was.

“Dominic Valenti. That’s the mufucka who tried to kill me and got you shot.”
