Wolf gazed at me as if I repulsed him. “Doesn’t that bother you?”
Quietly, I replied, “No.”
“You lunatic.”
I looked him in the eyes. “You prefer I lie?”
His shoulders sagged him further into the wall. “No. That would make this conversation meaningless.”
I smirked. “You do not like to waste your time?”
“Time is precious.” In disdain, he gazed about the room. “You never know how much of it you have.”
The profound thought was one I had never considered. I was young. I was rich and felt as if this would all last forever. Now, I was wondering if I even wanted it to.
“What?”
I looked at Wolf. “Excuse me?”
He rolled his eyes. “What, Master?”
I laughed. I actually laughed. “No. I meant, what are you referring to?”
“Oh. I just saw you in thought and wondered what it was about.”
Exhaling, I answered, “Just wondering… what it is I want with the time I have.”
His perplexed expression was somewhat comical. “Did a human trafficker just have a deep thought?”
I teased, “Don’t expect this to be a common occurrence.”
Patronizingly, Wolf snapped his fingers. “Oh, darn, and here I thought you were going to be my savior out of this hell hole.”
I tried to smile at his joke but lacked the will. “No. No saviors exist here.”
“What does exist here?”
“I don’t know how to answer that.”
“It’s a simple question.”
“Fine. What do you think goes on around here?”
“You rape, kill, and sell people.”
“That is what I mean. My perspective is much different than yours. I say I train people who were stupid enough to get caught.”
“Your logic is beyond disturbing, but let’s play it your way. What do you train them to do?”
That answer was easy for me. “Whatever we are paid for them to do.”
“You mean whatever some sick fuck wants them to do.”
“You say sick. I say someone who knows what they desire.”
In disgust, Wolf offered, “Someone against their will?”
I bobbed my head. “Force. Yes. This is some customer’s preference, yes.”
