Morwenna was better than him. She deserved a good guy. A man who had a nine-to-five job, who didn’t run the risk of getting arrested. She deserved a guy who didn’t kill people. It wasn’t like he made it a hobby to kill people. Some people needed to die.

But then he thought about her being with someone else, and that tore him up. He hated this feeling. He loved spending time with her. This was so fucking hard. There was no way he could push her the fuck away.

The ride didn’t last as long as he hoped it would, even though he was on the road for a good hour, passing the trailer park where just yesterday he got distracted.

So, he arrived at the location, but he didn’t pull up right outside the building. Bolt joined him, pulling up.

“What are we fucking looking at?” Bolt asked.

Venom didn’t say a word.

“Look, I get it. You don’t fucking like me, and guess what, I don’t like you either, but we’ve got to work together.”

“Shut the fuck up.” Venom replied.

Bolt glared. “Do you want to go?”

“I’d gladly show you a thing or two about throwing a punch, but right now, I’m figuring out the best way to get inside. I don’t want these assholes running. They run, they set up shop elsewhere, and I need to know how many places they’ve got, or if they’re literally cooking here, and if so, how they’re managing to distribute their product. We don’t know who is in the fucking game right now. All we know is Romano and possibly we are the targets. So, shut the fuck up while I think.”

“You know you can overthink shit,” he said.

He rolled his eyes, and then rubbed at his temples. Bolt talked too fucking much, and it was starting to piss him off. He just wanted two minutes to think.

“Whoa, what the fuck is that?” Bolt asked.

From where they were, they had cover, and Venom reached into his bike sack and pulled out a pair of binoculars as he watched the warehouse gates open up to a large moving truck.

He didn’t recognize any of the guys, but he didn’t like this. There were only three men—one driving the truck, another opening the gate, and a third guiding the truck inside.

“It’s too small,” Venom said.

“That’s a big fucking truck.”

He took a breath and turned to look at Bolt. “We’re talking about a potential threat that will take out the whole Romano Mafia, and bring us down as well. I see three men, and then whoever they have inside. When you’re moving product, we don’t just need a handful of guys, Bolt. It’s the whole fucking club. Think!” He slammed the binoculars against his chest, and Bolt’s face had gone a bright red.

Pulling out his phone, he dialed Maverick’s number, putting his cell phone to his ear, only for it to go to voicemail. “Shit.”

“What is it?” Bolt asked.

“Your dad is not answering.”

“Well, what do you need him for?”

“I needed to know if he wanted me to make the hit.” Maverick had told him he couldn’t kill people without his permission. It was so fucking stupid. It wasn’t like he killed people who didn’t deserve it.

“We’ve got to stop that truck from getting out,” Venom said, pulling out his gun and checking that it was loaded. He expected Bolt to piss his pants with excitement, but he actually surprised him by getting all serious.

Venom had yet to see the reason Bolt had been able to earn his patch. So far, he’d been completely underwhelmed, but then it didn’t help when it came to his thoughts and feelings about Morwenna. He didn’t believe Bolt deserved her, and the fact he threw it all away for a nasty piece of pussy like Star pissed him off.

Once he was loaded and checked his weapons, he and Bolt made their approach. He also noticed there were no security cameras. This was a very low-key operation, which meant they didn’t want to raise suspicion. The gates were still open, and no one was present. They got inside the gates, then moved closer to the van. Venom slowed down as he heard talking.

“We’ve got to move this shit by tonight,” one of the men said.

“No other details, just bags, right?”

“Yeah, that’s exactly what he said. No identifying markers. Just little white bags, like the Romanos have.”

Venom tensed as another guy rounded the truck, and he took one look at him. He grabbed his knife, and before the man could speak, he grabbed him, wrapping him around his body, putting his hand over his mouth, as he jammed the knife into his neck.
