“Mom, you know this time is different. Dad’s got everyone on patrol. We’ve got guards all over, and this lockdown is more serious than anything we’ve ever experienced. No matter how we try and dress this up, this is bad.”

“Does it make you feel better knowing there is nothing you can do?” Storm asked.

“No, it doesn’t. I don’t like hiding.”

His mother sighed. “This is not hiding.”

“What would you call it then? Hanging out and having a party?” he asked.

“We’re regrouping,” his dad said, coming to join them.

Bolt looked between his mother, then to his father and back again. “Regrouping.”

“This is what Romano is doing. Everyone else who has faced the Karamazov did not live to tell the tale. They ran off, they tried hunting. We’re not running, nor are we hunting. For now, we’re biding our time and waiting for the monster to strike.”

This made Bolt laugh. “You’re kidding, right?”

“Sometimes, monsters lose their patience, Bolt. You’ve got to learn to be patient, and time helps to heal all wounds.”

He was still terrified and pissed off, because Venom had told him Morwenna was staying at her parents’, which he didn’t consider to be safe. Everything was a fucking mess, and he didn’t know how to fix any of this. It was a total disaster.

Yet, Kyle looked behind him, gave him a smile and a giggle, throwing his hands up into the air. He loved his son. He loved all three of his children, but he couldn’t help wishing he’d been patient enough to have them with his wife.

Venom didn’t like company.

Lockdowns were a personal nightmare, unless he was alone. Solitary lockdown he could handle. It was easy for him, not company. Surrounded by a bunch of moaning men who didn’t want to be cooped up and kept going around the women, it was a disease waiting to happen. So, instead, he sat in his bedroom and read. It was all he could do.

His thoughts were not on himself, though. They were on Morwenna. Gus kept him updated via text each day, letting him know they were okay. The threat was real, and he knew the fear ran rampant in the club.

Karamazov was nothing more than a bunch of ghosts, with nothing but dead bodies left behind. It was a shit show. Even in prison the name Karamazov instilled fear into those that heard it.

He rubbed at the back of his neck and grabbed his cell phone. The last texts he sent to Morwenna were there. Breaking up with her was the hardest thing he’d ever done. He hated lying, but it was the only way to keep her safe.

He sat, staring across the bedroom, thinking about Morwenna, and his thoughts kept going back to Karamazov. Getting to his feet, he left his room and came face to face with Star.

“Hey, handsome,” she said.

He glared at her.

“Get out of my way.”

“Don’t be like that. I know I can give you what you need. Come on, you and me, we’ve not had a whole lot of fun together, and I can blow your mind. I know how to.” She let out a little moan, and even bit her lip for good measure. “I’ve heard you’ve got a nice big cock, and that is exactly what I need.”

“Do you think I’d stick my dick inside you?” he asked.

Star’s eyes went wide.

“You think I didn’t hear about you? About how you liked to play with fire with the whole club. How you begged them all to come inside you, and the rumors that you had to get a few abortions, until you found the one you wanted.”

Star went pale. “What? How did you ... you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I know you purposefully went out of your way to trap Bolt. You wanted to be his old lady, and you figured if you got knocked up, you’d be set for life. One kid didn’t do it, not even a son, so you kept trying. You’re never going to be Bolt’s old lady, because your pussy is club pussy. You’ve seen more dicks than an old lady is supposed to see. Now, if you touch me again, I’ll make sure none of the guys touch you.”

With that, he pushed her out of his way and made his way to Maverick’s office, only to find he wasn’t there. He didn’t see him in the main clubhouse. He asked King and Sarah, and they told him he went outside.

Venom stepped outside, and he saw Bolt, Storm, and Maverick standing together. He didn’t want to talk to all of them. He just wanted to run something by Maverick.
