Careful not to wake her, he slid in beside her and tenderly pulled her into his arms. When she mumbled his name and curled into him, he couldn’t stop the goofy grin spreading across his face. Hearing her say his name, even in sleep, confirmed what he’d been thinking lately—he was growing on her.
He might’ve gone into this agreement with the intention of letting her go after five years, but the more time they spent together, the more his feelings for her grew. Sloane didn’t know what the future held for them, but he was going to enjoy the time they had together.
He lay on his back with one arm around Halayna and the other behind his head as he started to relax. The only light in the dim room was the track lighting around the ceiling as well as the floor.
His eyes had just drifted closed when Halayna shifted in his hold, and his hand slid to her incredible ass. He gave it a light squeeze, glad to find out she was wearing panties. In her new position, her head was still resting against his chest, but her hand, the one with the brace, settled on his stomach and her leg straddled one of his thighs.
He groaned and his dick stirred as her softness pressed against his body, which was when he realized she wasn’t wearing a bra.
Damn, the woman is torturing me even in her sleep.
When he’d come out of the bathroom to find her fast asleep, he’d been resigned to let her get some rest. But now she was hugged up to him, and the temptation to wake her up and make love to her was almost unbearable.
As it was, Sloane had wanted to nudge her awake by kissing his way down her body, but he had managed to resist… barely. He wanted their first time together to be special, not that it wouldn’t be special while flying over the Pacific Ocean. He just envisioned something more romantic and where they were alone.
With that in mind, he forced his body under control and closed his eyes. They still had a few hours before they landed. Maybe he could take a short nap while Halayna slept and then play around with her when she woke up.
He smiled at the thought before he drifted off to sleep.
Sloane jerked awake and started to lift up, but he stiffened when a hand on his chest held him down. He turned his head, surprised to see Halayna propped up on her elbow watching him.
“I guess I wasn’t the only one tired, huh?” she said smiling.
He covered his mouth on a yawn, still feeling as if he could sleep a little longer. “I guess not,” he said. “But you still look tired.”
Halayna’s grin broadened. “Is that your way of trying to keep me in bed?”
Sloane chuckled and turned onto his side to better look at her. “Yes,” he said, then cleared his throat. “Is it working?”
She laughed and laid her head back on the pillow. “Maybe.”
“Hmm, good to know.” Sloane rubbed his eyes and yawned again. “How long was I out?”
“I’m not sure. I just woke up too. It’s still dark outside. So maybe not too long.”
Sloane lifted his arm and glanced at his watch. They still had a couple of hours before they landed, which meant they’d slept a few hours.
They stared at each other for a few minutes before he reached out and pushed loose strands of her hair behind her ear. “You fell asleep on me. Did you sleep okay?”
A sheepish grin spread across her inviting lips, making him want to lean over and kiss them. “I’m sorry. I was more tired than I realized, and yes, I slept well. Thanks for insisting I get into bed. I don’t fly often, but I can honestly say this is the best sleep I’ve ever had on a flight before.”
“That’s good, and I’m glad.”
She watched him intently, and when her gaze traveled over his bare chest and down to his abs, he couldn’t stop his grin from appearing. They must have kicked off the covers at some point during their nap because the comforter was at the foot of the bed. That gave her full view of his body and he of hers. But when her eyes went lower, lingering on his boxer briefs, his dick stirred. If she kept looking at him like that, he wouldn’t be able to hide the effect she had on him.
“You have an incredible body,” she whispered, her eyes boldly giving him another once over.
The woman was such a contradiction. There were times when she seemed shy and unsure. While other times, like now, she gave him a preview of her bold, confident side. Letting him know she knew what she wanted.
Sloane smiled, thinking he appreciated all sides of her, but the latter was quickly becoming his favorite.
“I’m glad you like what you see. It’s all yours for the taking—in case you were wondering.”
He was serious, but her laugh rippled through the air before she grinned at him with mischief in her eyes. “That’s good to know.”
A comfortable silence fell between them as they stared into each other’s eyes. God, she was beautiful. Like an angel sent down from heaven. That’s what he had felt the first time he saw her over ten years ago, but now, Sloane knew her beauty was more than skin deep. She was the kind of woman he could see spending the rest of his life with, and that realization had his heart squeezing.
They were supposed to be temporary, but he already knew he wouldn’t want to let her go at the end of their contract. When they exchanged vows in a couple of days, he knew he’d mean every word spoken. At some point, she had gotten deeper under his skin, and he was pretty sure he wanted forever with her.
