“So when you’re ready to scratch someone’s eyes out, it’s okay?”

“I wasn’t… I wasn’t really…”

“Your omega isn’t subtle,” Neven laughs as I nervously trace the woodgrain on the table at his observation. My cheeks warm as I turn my attention back to Reed, Soren, and Asher, who have the table surrounded.

I can’t lie… my omega is absolutely soaring at my Pack defending my honor.

But still. I don’t want them getting hurt.

Tattoo brother launches first, standing on the booth chair and swinging a fist for Reed, who dodges easily and immediately lands a punch on the guy’s jaw. Shorter brother approaches from the back, arm cocked, but Asher is there, yanking him back and slamming his head to the table.

I gasp. Watching my men fight. And I shouldn’t— I really shouldn’t like it. But oh wow.

Neven chuckles behind me. His voice is close and sultry as he rests his chin on my shoulder from behind me. Watching the fight with me.

“I can smell your desire, Omega.”

My blush may as well be a confession.

Soren grabs one of his brothers, the one who just landed a hit on Reed, and my omega goes from enamored to pissed. The group works on dragging his two brothers out of the diner. Reed is grabbing the feet of the one Asher is dragging, and they are swinging him like he’s a little kid out the door. Dropping him on the concrete outside.

Neven grabs my hand and leads me outside after them. A sharp urge to land a kick of my own cuts through me, but I refrain. They might like it. Ugh.

They scramble up, wanting to continue, I’m sure, but more people pour out of the diner, all with Wolves embroidered or printed on their shirts and jackets.

“That fucking truce is over, Red!” the taller one yells as they struggle to their feet. “Wolves aren’t fucking loyal, it seems.” Without another word, they jump on their bikes and race away from the diner.

The rumble of their mufflers fades, but the crowd stands frozen, all eyes on Reed. Whose own face watches the ground.

Neven lets go of my hand, and I spring straight into Reed’s chest. My chin tucks against his neck, arms squeezing his torso. But his arms don’t immediately go around me.

What if he rejects me again?

I gulp, trying to push the ugly fears out of my brain, but they’re stuck. They tell me to let go of him, pull back.

Instead, I squeeze him harder.

I cup the side of his face forcing him to look at me, and when his eyes meet mine, he finally, fucking finally, wraps his arms around me.

The crowd, myself included, takes a collective breath.

“We’re okay,” I mutter.

He shakes his head.

“It’ll be okay,” I say again.

I may not know all the intricacies of MC life, but I’m a quick learner and it is now my personal mission to make sure everything is okay.

I’m finding there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for the four men standing in this parking lot.

CHAPTER 23

REED

Nine AM Statistics class is the last fucking place I should be right now.

I broke a three-year truce, and here I sit, calculating p-values while a guy a few rows back snores softly.
