“Are you okay?” Elijah was checking because she still hadn’t moved from the sink.

“I can’t believe we did that,” she muttered as she unsteadily straightened and stood up.

Her mussed hair screamed that she’d just had rough sex, and the mark where he sucked on her neck was red. She was a mess.

Shit, how were they going to go back to the party and pretend nothing happened?

Touching the hickey, she asked, “What are we going to tell our friends?”

“Are you comfortable leaving?” he tenderly asked, stepping closer to her. Elijah replaced her hand with his fingers on her neck, lightly rubbing the spot. “I can tell everyone you weren’t feeling great so you left.”

Georgia swirled around to face him. “Would you consider this public sex?”

His eyes widened in surprise. “What?”

“We’re at a party and had sex. I’d consider that public sex.”

Where was this coming from?

“Sure.” Elijah scratched the side of his head. “Why are you clarifying this?”

She stepped around him and unlocked the bathroom door. “So I can cross it off my list.”

Out she went, but Elijah was frozen.

What else did she have on this list?

CHAPTER

TWENTY-FOUR

IN THE PAST week, Elijah talked to Georgia every day.

Which wasn’t his normal MO when it came to the women he slept with.

But Georgia was different. That was apparent from the moment he met her.

Peach: I don’t feel like going to the bar.

This was their first text of the day, but he was busy. Elijah busted his ass laying down the hardwood floor in his basement.

Though he did keep it near him, just in case.

Fine, he checked it a million times too.

Georgia didn’t reach out until after dinner around eight, but he would take it.

Elijah: Is there a hostage situation forcing you to go?

Peach: Would you consider Sophie a captor?

Elijah: She has the potential for it. Sounds like you’ll be at Lighthouse soon.

Fuck, he hated her going to the bar without him. She was some sort of magnet who attracted every asshole within a fifteen-mile radius. Of course he didn’t want her to be in danger, but the other part of him, the possessive asshole caveman part, didn’t like her alone with other men.

There was an easy solution, but would she take it?

Elijah: You could tell Sophie you’re coming to hang out with me instead.
