Elena

Please don’t hurt any of them.

Alexei

You’re asking a lot from me, cousin.

Elena

I’ll get them to leave.

Alexei

You have twenty minutes.

Fuck.

Elena

All of you leave, and I’ll come see you tomorrow. I promise. Leave now before it turns into bloodshed. You married me for a reason, you needed this alliance. Don’t mess it up.

Suit

Yes, I married you. And I want you with me.

And now I’m angry all over again. He wants me with him? When have I been with him? That one night we spent together? He spends more time in the pole room than with me.

Elena

We don’t even sleep in the same room. I’m sure you will survive. Now leave.

Fifteen minutes later, the motorcycle engines fire up again, the loud rumbling already making me feel homesick.

They all ride out.

I sigh and get underneath the sheets.

What I don’t see is the lone rider still waiting at the side of the gate, staring up at my window.

SUIT

Outside the huge gates of the Pakhan mansion, I stay. I know I’m lucky that I haven’t been shot. I didn’t miss the snipers pointing their guns at me. Alexei came out and told me that unfortunately for him, Elena didn’t want me dead yet.

Yet. He emphasized that.

He also said that the next time his cousin is so upset she has to run to him, he’s going to put a bullet through my brain, and mentioned having a few good men that he can remarry Elena to.

I wanted to beat the shit out of him, but I knew it wouldn’t make it any better for me. I can take a few threats. I know I deserve them, and it’s nice to see Elena has some family who will stand up for her. I didn’t even know Alexei was her cousin. I suppose I never asked her many questions. All of that is going to change if she gives me a second chance. I’m going to make it all up to her.

When the sun rises, I ride back to the clubhouse to get a few hours of sleep and take a shower. Then I go to buy some flowers. I text Elena and ask her what time we can meet up. I feel on edge. An almost desperate panic fuels my body as I realize how much I’ve fucked up with her. I should have treated her like the gift she is and not a bomb waiting to explode.

I haven’t touched another woman since I married her, but I never even told her that.

She didn’t know how confused I was about my feelings for her because I never opened up. I kept it all so close to my chest that she has no idea. And now she’s had enough.

She arrived at the clubhouse with nothing but an open heart, kindness, and positivity. Now my lack of communication has left her feeling like she had no choice but to leave her new home.

I know the women feel sorry for me when they come to check in. Ora and Lu make me breakfast and bake me cupcakes.
