Toren exhaled smoke out of his nose, lifting one shoulder toward his ear. While he did love Andrew’s company, there was part of him that felt like his time with Riggs would be better served one-on-one. Before making a decision, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent a text.

“Let me ask,” he said.

Do you have time for a quick walk-in today?

Riggs

You or someone else?

Me

Come at five? Or is that too late?

Toren glanced up and Andrew also had his phone out, probably texting whichever Covington brother he wanted to see the most.

“Is five too late?” he asked.

“No. But five means you’re stuck with me and Finn for the afternoon.”

“I could fuck off alone,” he suggested, offering the same courtesy Andrew had given him.

“Spend the afternoon with me and Finn,” Andrew said, no question to be found. “Then I’ll drop you at the shop and we’ll head home when you’re finished.”

Five is good.

See you soon.

“It’s a date,” Toren said, and Andrew smiled, leaning across the table and calling Toren in for a kiss. They were in real public, not sex-club public, so Toren kept it chaste, even though Andrew made it hard to maintain his composure sometimes.

“Finn said we can come over and hang out. Sophie is mood-boarding their back yard.” Andrew unfolded himself from the table and held out his hand for Toren.

“What does that mean?”

“I think they’re redoing it. I honestly have no idea, but it’s a nice day and it didn’t sound horrible.”

Toren made an agreeable sound, and followed Andrew to the car. It didn’t take terribly long to get to the house Finn shared with his boyfriend and girlfriend, Daniel and Sophie. Though, the three of them wore rings and Toren thought there might be a little bit more to it than the casual nature terms like that allowed.

“Do you ever want to get married?” he asked, immediately snapping his mouth shut.

They’d just pulled up in front of Finn’s house and Andrew put the car in park, turning toward Toren with a brow raised and his jaw slack.

“Never mind,” Toren said, reaching for the door.

Andrew stretched himself over the center console and batted Toren’s hand away from the handle, waiting until Toren steadied himself and turned to face him.

“I had never ever put much thought into it,” Andrew told him. “But that was before.”

“Before.”

“Before,” Andrew repeated.

Toren’s heart did something silly in his chest and he rubbed his sternum to settle it.

“Have you thought about it?” Andrew asked him.

“A bit,” he admitted.

Andrew kissed Toren’s ring finger. “A bit.”
