As soon as the solution hits me, I feel like a fucking idiot.
“Sorry to interrupt, but Reaper, can you call or text Sarah?” I blurt out.
Reaper looks at me and frowns. “I can. Why?”
“I think this is one of those situations where a girl could use her mom.”
Understanding flashes through his eyes. “Of course.”
He gets up, popping out of the room to grab his phone. After a few moments, he comes back in, taking his seat.
“That was a good move,” Midnight says, dipping his chin toward me.
“It was. Now, back to what we were discussing. Hades, did Evelyn say anything about getting a lawyer?” Reaper asks.
“She mentioned a union representative last night but nothing else.”
Trigger shakes his head. “That’s not good enough. She should have her own counsel.”
“Would the club lawyer be able to handle it?” Colt asks.
Trigger tilts his head to the side. “I think Atticus would be willing to do it, but it doesn’t matter if Evelyn isn’t open.”
“It won’t hurt to ask.” I sigh.
“Have the cameras the Chicago guys placed picked anything up? Given us an idea as to what is coming next?” Wrath asks.
Trigger nods. “We picked up what we think was the final fight between Dansworth and Melanie in the house. Then in his home office, Dansworth was laughing while discussing taking out the trash. I’m assuming he was talking about Melanie.”
“He made a fucked-up comment about how he would miss her pussy, but she was a liability,” Colt sneers.
“That’s fucked,” I mutter, as everyone nods in agreement.
“Anything else?” Wrath asks.
“He met with the police chief to talk about the crackdown. They want to try and push to have motorcycles banned from city limits, claiming they are a nuisance,” Wrath snorts.
“We got a good laugh out of that. This is Vegas, for fuck’s sake.” Colt smirks.
“He also asked someone to look into Mav. Said he liked him and that he seems to be the type to support their cause,” Trigger adds, not looking up from the computer.
Just hearing that my friend is on this psycho’s radar makes my stomach clench.
“Will his background hold?” Reaper asks.
“With no issue. Cipher, their IT guy, and I built it together. Then we got Dex from San Antonio to take a look. It will hold,” Trigger confirms.
“I wish this was the old days when we could just storm the castle and take care of business and no one would give a fuck,” Kicks mutters.
“Back when the city was run by mobsters.” Pinky smirks.
He’s been quiet the entire meeting, but you can tell he’s invested. Possibly in pain, but invested.
“Son, this city is still run by criminals, don’t get it twisted,” Kicks tosses back.
“Does anyone else have anything they need to tell me?” Reaper asks.
Everyone shakes their heads, and Reaper sighs.
