I pull my mouth off of him, pulling back just far enough to look into his eyes.

“I’m gonna…I’m…”

Before I can even get the words out, it happens, my cum spraying over his pecs and abs. Two thrusts later, he joins me, his forehead meeting mine as he fills the condom inside of me. My arms wrapped around him, his body still held inside mine, I can’t help but think I’ll never be the same.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

AVERY

Afterwards, as we lay tangled in his bed, Finn scrolls through his phone, mostly looking at hockey news. The holiday roster freeze is just over a week out, so there’s plenty to read, stories about guys who will be spending Christmas in a different city than they expected. I doze in and out, focusing on the soft feel of Finn’s skin against mine, relishing the feeling of his trust.

“Holy shit.”

I open my eyes, wondering what story could be big enough for that reaction.

“What’s up?”

“The Huskies traded Zach Price.”

Finn had told me about Price’s offer to him in Minneapolis, and based on what I’d heard from Jamie about the guy, it seemed to fit. I can’t help the smirk that forms on my face, equal parts mean and satisfied.

“Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Where’s he going?”

Finn clicks through to the attached press release, scanning for information.

“St. Louis?”

That is surprising.

“Wait, really? Their offense sucks this year. Who’d the Huskies get?”

Finn scrolls through the press release, then seemingly reads it again.

“...future considerations?”

The second the words are out of his mouth, I know what’s coming. Sure enough, Finn’s phone starts ringing within a minute or two, the Minneapolis area code clear as day on the screen.

Future considerations.

I should be happy, honestly. From what Jamie’s told me, Zach Price is a total dick and deserves the humiliation of being traded for nothing in particular. But what I hear is the other side of that equation – that Minneapolis doesn’t need a winger in exchange.

Because they’ve already got one.

Sure enough, Finn’s eyes are wide as he listens to whoever’s on the other end of the line.

Probably Ramsey. He’d want to make a call like this himself.

I’m just glad he hasn’t put it on speaker, that I don’t have to listen in. I slide out from under his arm, leaving the warmth of the bed. As I grab my sweatpants from the floor, Finn gives me a questioning look. I try for a smile and gesture toward the hallway, hoping he’ll let me sneak away.

He does, humming in assent to something and focusing back in on the phone call.

I walk out to the living room, looking out the window at the river before pulling out my phone. Going to my contacts, I click on a number I hardly ever use – one I’ve never actually called before. After three rings, just as I think it will go unanswered, I hear a click.

“Hello?”

“The future considerations were a nice touch.”

I hear Ethan snort on his end of the line.
