If that meant Isaac was laughing at Caleb’s expense… then so be it. His masculinity wasn’t under threat. Hell, Isaac had been joking about trying pegging and dildos recently and Caleb hadn’t blinked.

He could handle being pranked into thinking Ryan was the ghost.

But how had Ryan know how to perfectly get under his skin like that? When they’d met, Caleb had been avoiding his friends because they’d started a marathon of ghost movies and-

Oh. Oh no. Had he been so drunk he’d told Ryan his secret? Shit. He must have. Confessing to a stranger he’d never see again was supposed to be safe!

Now Ryan knew his secret.

Fuck.

“You know what they say about this place, right?” Caleb said. “As soon as the storm’s over, we need to leave.”

Isaac snorted, “It’s not that bad.”

Isaac stood to hang up his soaking wet cowboy costume. It was identical to Caleb’s. They liked to match their costumes every year.

Caleb took over gently blowing on the fire to keep it going.

“I used to come here sometimes when the fall festival got too much.” Isaac eventually admitted, rubbing his bare arms to generate heat. “It’s always empty around Halloween.”

“Oh. I didn’t know.” Some friend he was.

Isaac shrugged.

“Ugh, this fucking wood is damp,” Caleb grumbled. It wasn’t lighting up as fast as it should, forcing them to huddle side by side in front of the stove. “Seriously, why didn’t you tell me?’

Isaac sighed. “I came here to jerk off in peace, okay?”

“And you didn’t invite me? I thought we were friends,” Caleb teased, even though, if he was being honest, the ghost would have scared him away.

Everyone avoided this cabin around Halloween. Especially Caleb. Not even a free blowjob from a stranger had convinced him. Isaac had taken the chance for guaranteed privacy.

“You made it clear we weren’t that kind of friends,” Isaac grumbled.

“What? The kind that will be beside you no matter what? C’mon, don’t joke, you’re my ride or die, you know that right?”

The breakup had to have gotten to Isaac more than Caleb had realized, to doubt their friendship like that.

“Really?” Isaac asked, shivering and rubbing his arms.

Caleb needed to hurry the fuck up and get the fire blazing. How could he call Isaac his best friend if he’d been blind to Isaac’s needs?

“Fuck, I’d watch a pegging video with you if you wanted.”

Isaac laughed, loud and shocked. “Your girlfriend would never let you.”

And that was the truth. She was weird about Isaac. Not as weird as Isaac’s ex-girlfriend had been about Caleb, but still weird.

“Speaking of,” Isaac said. “I’m surprised she was so understanding about this trip. Didn’t she say we spend too much time together?”

“Uh…” Caleb stared blankly at the wood stove, starting to shiver despite the warmth from the fire. Still in his soaked clothes and muddy boots.

He refused to look over at Isaac, naked except for his boxers. Gah! What was wrong with him? He’d seen Isaac without clothes before. His girlfriend forbidding it had twisted him up!

“You did tell her… didn’t you?” Isaac said.

“I must have,” Caleb said. But he had no memory of sending the text. “I think?”
