Chapter Five
Kitty
My brother and Sukie are practically going at it in the parking lot while we wait for Dread so he can follow me home to make sure I get there safe and sound.
“Psst, Kitty,” I hear someone calling my name.
I glance around and think I’m hearing things until I see Zane hovering near his truck across the lot.
Ugh. What does he want?
I roll my eyes but decide to hear him out. Maybe I left something at the apartment or something.
“What?” I hiss.
“You need to stop with the bullshit letters.”
“What are you talking about? What letters?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, Kit.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but speaking of dumb, how about you and your little girlfriend stop prank calling me?”
“What is this middle school? No one has been calling you.”
“Right. Just like you didn’t tell your attorney we had sex when we so didn’t.”
“Babe. “
“Don’t babe me and stop calling me and breathing into the phone like a creep.”
“I never called you.”
“You called me earlier today from a private number.”
“Wasn’t me.”
“Then it must be Blair.”
“I’ll talk to her.”
“Oh I’m sure you will do a lot more than that.”
“Stop with the letters.”
“What’s the letters say?” My brother growls joining the conversation.
“This doesn’t concern you, D.”
“Fuck it doesn’t.”
“This is between Kit and me.”
“There is no Kitty and you,” Dread butts in.
“So this is who you’re fucking now?” Zane scowls at Dread.
“Who I fuck is none of your business.” I feel the heat of Dread as he moves in behind me to take my back. I try to ignore the shiver that slithers up my spine when he puts a hand to my hip, all protective and possessive. It’s a hold that says you’re mine, but we both know I’m not.
