He snores softly in response.

I laugh under my breath.

“Yeah. I think I can live with that.”

Epilogue

Vincent

Jay picks me up from the bar just after six.

“Hey, little dream,” I say as I slide into the passenger seat.

“Hi.” He leans over to kiss me, but it isn’t the soft, familiar kiss I’ve grown used to. This one is heated, lingering, full of promise. When he pulls away, his eyes are dark behind his glasses. “Ready?”

My stomach flips.

We’ve been building toward this for weeks. Talking about it. Planning it. Making sure we’re both ready. And now, finally, it’s happening.

“Yeah.” My voice comes out rougher than I intend. “I’m ready.”

His hand settles on my thigh as he pulls away from the curb, his fingers tracing idle patterns against my skin. Every small touch sends another wave of heat through me.

“Still nervous?”

“A little.” I glance at him. “Is that weird?”

“Not at all.” His fingers squeeze my thigh reassuringly. “We’ll go slow. And if you want to stop at any point…”

“I won’t.”

His mouth curves into a dirty, knowing smile.

“You’re very confident for someone who was practically vibrating with nerves five minutes ago.”

“I can be confident and nervous at the same time. It’s a skill I’ve perfected over the decades.”

“Fair point.”

The rest of the drive passes in a haze of anticipation. By the time we pull into the driveway, my heart is hammering against my ribs. Not from fear. At least, not anymore.

Inside, Jay sets his keys down and looks at me.

“Go upstairs. Get ready. I’ll be up in a minute.”

“Bossy,” I tease, already heading toward the stairs.

“You have no idea, Jagiya,” he calls after me.

The promise in his voice sends a shiver down my spine.

Upstairs, I strip down and take my time getting ready, reminding myself to breathe whenever my nerves start getting the better of me. I’ve spent so long wondering what this would be like, imagining every possible thing that could go wrong.

But I trust Jay.

More than that, I love him.

When I’m finished, I sit on the edge of the bed wearing nothing but my boxers, my knee bouncing nervously while I wait.
