Liar.

Judging by the little spark in his eyes, he knows I'm thinking it.

I'm opening my mouth to call him on it when a loud groan comes from the booth.

"Hades and Persephone," Eric says dramatically. "Y'all are disgustingly adorable."

I close my eyes and take a deep, calming breath. I had completely forgotten he was there. When I open them, Eric is staring between Jay and me with the delighted expression of a man who has just discovered free entertainment.

Across from him, Aksel snorts into his Coke and Hale is trying not to laugh.

"Who knew Vincent could smile like that?" Hale asks. One hand rests protectively over his enormous pregnant belly.

"I smile all the time."

Three pairs of eyes land on me, and nobody says anything.

"I do," I argue with a deep frown.

Eric raises one eyebrow. "Name the last time."

I open my mouth, but nothing comes out.

Shit.

"He smiles all the time,” Jay says, enthusiastically jumping to my defense.

"Of course he does, babes,” Eric condescends, patting Jay’s hand.

"Don't you guys have somewhere to be?"

Aksel glances at his watch. "Oh, shit." He reaches for his wallet. "Fylgja, you want a to-go box?"

Hale shakes his head. "No, I'm good. Baby isn't hungry right now, but I do need the bathroom." Aksel is on his feet before Hale finishes the sentence.

"Do you want me to…"

"I'm capable of walking to the bathroom, Aksel."

"I know."

"You don't look like you know."

"I just want to make sure you're okay."

Hale sighs, but he's smiling as Aksel offers his arm anyway. "You're ridiculous."

"You're carrying my child. I'm allowed to be ridiculous."

Eric watches them head toward the bathrooms.

"Aren't they adorable?"

"Painfully," I say.

"You jealous?" Eric asks, squinting at me.

"Of what?"
