“Yes.”

The word had barely left her lips when my mouth covered hers.

I kissed her slowly at first, taking in the softness of her lips and the quiet breath that escaped her. Then her hand closed around my collar, pulling me closer.

The kiss deepened, and I spread her lips with my tongue. A chill of warmth spread down my torso straight to my dick. I cupped the back of her neck and angled her mouth beneath mine as she tightened her grip on my shirt. The taste of her drew me deeper. I moved her against the front door. Her body pressed into mine, soft everywhere I was hard. A low sound left her throat, and heat tore through my stomach.

Frankie’s fingers slid across my head. My hands traveled down her sides, closed around her hips, and lifted.

Her breath broke against my lips as her back met the door. Her legs opened around me, and the hem of her dress rose beneath my hands.

“Fuck,” she whispered.

The word nearly broke what remained of my restraint.

I kissed her again, deeper and more indulgent. She moved against me, and a groan pulled from my chest. The darkened house waited beyond the door while her body welcomed mine against it.

I spoke against her mouth.

“You’ve got a few minutes… mere seconds, actually, before we reach a point of no return.”

Her fingers tightened at my collar.

The desire in her eyes matched mine. She wanted me to continue, and every part of my body demanded the same. Then hesitation flickered across her face. It was small and brief. But I hadn’t missed it.

Her gaze shifted toward the glass pane beside her head before returning to me. The want remained, tangled with something she hadn’t said. I loosened my hold.

“Elijah.”

I lowered her slowly. Her body slid down the length of mine, still burning, still aching, until her heels touched the porch. The friction left us both breathing harder than before. My hands remained at her waist until her legs steadied.

“Get inside. Now.”

The warning came out rough; desire wrapped around every word. She turned toward the door and attempted to put the key into the lock. She missed it and tried again and again but failed.

“Damn.”

Her hands shook.

“Give me the keys.”

“I can do it.”

“I know you can.” I held out my hand. “Let me.”

She placed them in my palm.

I unlocked the door and pushed it open. Frankie collected her food and stepped across the threshold. When she turned to face me, her lips were swollen, and her breathing remained uneven. The sight of her nearly drew me inside.

“Close the door now,” I said. “Lock it.”

She held my gaze as she moved back.

The door closed between us. The lock clicked. Yet, neither of us walked away. Frankie remained on the other side of the glass pane, watching me. Her fingertips rose and rested against it. I could knock, and she would open the door, and we would indulge in every inch of each other. I mentally counted to three.

One.

I took a step backward.
