“Elijah.”

“Journey.”

“You watched me suffer and did nothing.”

“You didn’t require medical intervention.”

“I required compassion.”

“I encouraged you.”

“You diagnosed me as fine.”

“You were.”

She looked at me. “I don’t know if I like him anymore.”

“You liked him?”

“Before today.”

Elijah smiled and held out a bottle of water.

Journey accepted it immediately. “You’re forgiven.”

I removed my headset and stepped from the platform. Elijah’s attention traveled over me, lingering on the skin exposed by my sports bra and shorts.

“You made it,” I said.

“I told you I would.”

“You also proved your claim.”

“I did.”

“He was good,” Naomi confirmed.

“Don’t I know it,” I crooned.

Elijah came closer. His hand settled against my waist despite the sweat covering my skin.

“You look good when you work,” he said.

“I told you.”

“You understated it.”

His mouth touched mine.

The kiss was brief, but the room hadn’t emptied enough for it to be private. A few remaining clients made soft sounds of approval.

I smiled against his lips.

“Now my business is everybody’s business.”

“You introduced me to the class.”

“As a visitor.”
