Especially not in New Water.

If she’s spent any time here, then she’d know my reputation. She’ll know not to mess with me. She’ll know what I’m capable of and the power my family wields in this small town.

If we ever meet again then she’ll regret what she did there in that bank.

I flick my hands as I reach my car across the street from the bank, shaking out the built-up tension and anger from my body. She’s not worth it, she’s not worth my time or energy. I have far more important things to do than to think of some pretty girl and the stupid decision she made to splash water over me.

I unlock my vehicle. My car’s a Lamborghini; a powerful display of the wealth and power I have in this town.

I sit in the plush driver’s seat and close my eyes, reminding myself of who I am and how I shouldn’t care about some girl insulting my ego with a glass of water.

Don’t worry about her. Don’t even think about her anymore.

But I can’t get her out of my head.

Fuck it.

I have important things to do, that’ll take my mind off her.

First, I need to go home and change my shirt, and maybe even have a shower to clean off this banker’s water that’s currently making its way down my pants. Maybe I’ll even go for a swim in the ocean, I guess that’ll cleanse my mind of this girl.

Yeah, maybe I’ll do that.

I open my eyes and slam my keys into the ignition.

Time to forget about that stupid girl.

BAY

I park the car outside the school gates and lean back in my seat, trying to decompress and truly comprehend what just happened.

Holy shit.

I actually can’t believe I did that. I actually threw water into that guy’s face.

That was so unlike me.

It just happened. I had no control over my actions. My body just reacted to him coming up to me from behind like I was doing some kind of defense mechanism, back in the bank my hand reached for that glass on the counter instinctively and without hesitation.

I didn’t mean for it to happen.

And that’s why I ran out there and into my car.

Superman was a big guy, and I know he could’ve crushed me like an ant with just one of his fingers. I didn’t want to face his wrath so I bolted the heck out of there before anything could happen, before the dude could get over his initial shock.

It’s okay now, Bay. You’re outta there.

Yeah. I got out of that bank alive.

And now I’m at the school just in time for the end-of-day bells to ring.

I’ve never been that brave before.

I know throwing that water was an insane thing to do - the wrong thing to do - but, even so, sitting in my car outside the school gates, I smile to myself.

Yeah.
