She pouted and let her shoulders slump.
I kissed her again and picked her up off my lap. “Tonight, I won’t make that mistake again.”
She sat there and raised her brows. Like a seductress made to vex me. “Oh? Is that so?”
“Yeah. That is so.” I leaned down, setting my hands on either side of her to kiss her. Last one—for now. My control was a temperamental thing where she mattered. “Because today, we’ll have your things brought in here.”
Her jaw dropped as she stood. “Just like that?” She followed after me as I went to get dressed. “You want me to move in here?”
“You already moved in, sweetheart.”
She blushed, holding the sheet up like a toga. “I know, but…”
“But nothing. He already knows we’re together.”
She winced. “I had no idea that he’d seen me out of my bed and in yours.”
“He’s perceptive like that.”
“Isn’t it too fast?” she asked.
I shook my head. “I don’t think so. Look at it this way. Instead of him looking for you in that other room, he’ll know that he can find both of us in one place.”
She smiled slowly and nodded. “I just don’t want to overwhelm anyone.”
I paused to kiss her. “You’re overwhelming me with the need to fuck you again the longer you stand there like that.”
She sagged against me, smiling against my lips.
“Go get dressed,” I teased her, smacking her ass as I passed her and left the room.
I found Paloma and Brady in the kitchen. He was deep into a bowl of cereal and Paloma was sighing contentedly with that first sip of coffee.
Cartoons about a pirate ship played from the screen on the other end of the kitchen, but I didn’t linger to see how the narrator would tie the pirate ship to some kind of an animal, since the program blended history and science in one episode.
Brady smiled at me as I rounded the island.
Paloma held her cup up and watched me get my coffee. I grabbed a cup for Louisa, too, letting her handle adding the creamer and sugar since she was specific about how she liked it.
“I’m not sure how busy your day is supposed to be,” I told her, “but I’d like to move Louisa’s things into my suite.”
She grinned. “You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this.”
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t hide a smile.
“Really, Nikolai.” She sighed. “I’ve never been happier.”
I watched as she smiled at Brady, knowing she meant it from the bottom of her heart.
“I’ve missed having a little boy around here to dote on,” she said. “And I can see how much more centered you are with her.”
As if on cue, Louisa hurried into the kitchen. Her phone was to her ear and she nodded and reached for the coffee. I backed out of the way, letting her do what she needed to do.
“That is definitely a good sign, Wren. It has to be. If there’s activity on that camera feed, it can only mean one thing.” She paused, listening as she poured the coffee. “Mm-hmm.” Still listening, she zoned out and focused on the call instead of looking where she was reaching.
I slid her creamer over.
She took it, not breaking her stride. “Oh, for sure.”
