The light shone over her and the little red nightgown she wore. His mouth went completely dry as all of the blood left his head.
His eyes ran slowly over her body, taking in all of her luscious curves. Her long blonde hair lay over the soft pale skin of her shoulders. He enjoyed the way the top pulled tightly over her ample breasts and soft hips. Hips he’d enjoyed holding onto as she’d ridden him that last time they’d been together.
Damn, it had been too long.
“Maggie.” He croaked out her name while she took another step towards him.
“Why are you here?” she asked softly.
His eyes moved down her bare legs to her toes, which were painted a soft pink. God, he wanted to run his tongue over her calves, up her thighs, and bury his mouth against her.
“Rick?” she asked again, causing his eyes to snap up to hers.
He’d gladly give her anything she asked him for at the moment.
“Yes?” he asked softly.
“Why are you here?” she repeated.
“For you,” he answered truthfully. “Come here.” He held out his hand, but she shook her head and backed up a step.
“Why?” she asked again.
He felt his entire body tense when she took that step away from him.
“I need you,” he said in a near groan, making a move to get up. But he stopped when she shook her head once more.
“Tell me.” She reached up and slowly pulled one thin strap from her shoulders, which let the silky material fall further from her breast, exposing more soft pale skin and allowing him the view of the peak of her nipple.
God, he was so hard now that he couldn’t even think.
“Maggie, I want you. Isn’t that enough?” he asked, standing up suddenly.
She held her hands between them, keeping him at arm’s length.
“No, it’s never been enough to keep you in one place.” Her eyes narrowed slightly. Then she reached up and pulled the other strap down. His eyes traveled down to her other breast, and his dick jumped in response to what he saw.
“Maggie.” He groaned once more and tried to move closer to her.
“Rick, why are you here?” she asked, her tone a little firmer.
“To win you back,” he blurted out.
She stilled, her eyes locking with his.
“Why? You’ll just leave me again.” She took another step back.
He wanted to tell her that he wouldn’t. Wanted to assure her that this was it. This was the last time. That he had no plan to leave her ever again. Only, his mind wasn’t working. Instead, he reached for her.
“Maggie, I need—” he started, but she yanked up the straps as she took one giant step away from him.
“I won’t play your games any longer.” Her chin went up slightly. “From here on, I’m in charge, and you’ll just have to take what I give you. This time, I’ll be the one who leaves first.” She turned and rushed from the room.
He wanted to go after her. Wanted to bring her back into the safety of the room and assure her that he was done playing games. Only his body wouldn’t respond to his brain’s demands. His heart ached from the thought of what he’d done to her all these years. How he’d hurt her. How he’d led her on.
He lay down on the bed, turned off the light, and ached until the sunlight filled his room.
In the morning, he rolled out of bed, dressed, and went in search of her, only to find out that she and Becca had headed into town almost an hour earlier.
