“Yup, which is how they’ve been able to do whatever the hell they wanted,” Bryson said.
“Well, are you going to take them off security? Fire them?” Becca asked.
“Nope, not yet. You’re burning the chicken,” Bryson pointed out. Becca quickly removed the pan from the fire.
“What are you going to do?” Maggie asked, handing Rick a soda and his pain pills. He hadn’t taken any since getting out of the hospital, but tonight he knew he’d have to if he was going to get any sleep.
“For now, Bent and I are going to watch them while they think we still don’t know,” Bryson answered.
“We are?” Bent asked, taking a sip of his beer.
“Yup. Which means you should probably switch to tea. We have a long night ahead of us, son.” Bryson slapped his son’s shoulder.
“If you—” Rick started, but everyone in the room said nope at the same time.
“Anyone with eyes can tell you’re about to fall over,” Maggie assured him. “Eat, then head in and get some rest.” She kissed him.
“Only if you’ll come with me.” He squeezed her hand.
“Gross,” Becca joked, earning her a nudge from her mother.
After dinner, Rick couldn’t have argued about heading in to rest if he wanted to. The pain pills and the full stomach had done him in. The moment his head hit the pillow, he was out.
When he woke hours later, the room was shadowed in darkness and he felt Maggie curled around him.
“Are you okay?” she asked, shifting slightly.
“Yes, you?” He pulled her closer to his chest.
“Good. Did you get some sleep?”
“Yes,” he said, feeling the need to kiss her. He brushed his lips over her skin, and she moaned and arched into him.
“Rick,” she murmured as she rolled on top of him. “Let me.” She straddled his hips and removed her top.
Reaching up, he filled his hands with her as she arched into his touch.
It wasn’t as if they hadn’t spent years exploring one another. He knew every freckle on Maggie’s body. But now she lingered over him, her long hair lying wildly over her shoulders as she slipped down on him. This was a side of Maggie he’d never seen before.
She was a goddess. Someone to be worshiped. And he planned on spending the rest of his life doing just that. He gripped her hips and held onto her as she took what she needed from him. He held his own pleasures in check until he felt her release, heard her soft cries as she held firmly over him. Only then did he allow everything he felt for her, everything she’d built up inside him, loose.
“I’d say you’re getting better,” she said, lying over his chest. Her hair fanned out on his shoulder.
“You’re the one that did all the work,” he pointed out while he ran his hand over her bare back.
He felt her chuckle. “Yeah, I kind of liked taking control.”
“You’re welcome to do that again, anytime,” he said with a grin.
They lay there for a moment, then Maggie shifted slightly. “I need some water,” she said, and he let her roll from the bed. “Do you want anything?”
He thought about it. “I’ll head into the kitchen with you. I could use something more in my stomach. I was too tired to finish eating my dinner earlier.”
“You looked like the walking dead,” she joked as she pulled on her clothes.
“I felt like a zombie,” he admitted, pulling on his own clothes. “Now, I feel like I could run a marathon if you asked me to.” He pulled her into his arms.
“Sex, the best medicine.”
