“Thanks,” he said easily.

As they stepped into the elevator to head back up to his place, his mother hugged Mia.

“What was that?” he asked when they were alone in the elevator again.

“Hm?” Mia turned and wrapped her arms around his waist.

“My parents have never liked anyone I brought to dinner before,” he admitted. “Not that they’re rude people, but they have certainly never reacted the way they did back there.”

Mia laughed and looked up at him. “You’ve never brought a genie home before.”

“Right.” He smiled.

“What are the plans for tomorrow?” Mia asked when they stepped into the bedroom.

“What do you want to do?” he asked. “Now that my father has pretty much said that he’ll fill in for me around the office until I get back, our time is our own.”

Mia frowned as she sat down on the edge of the bed. “We should probably head to Hidden Creek.”

He nodded as he moved closer to her. “Is that what you want?”

“What I want is to spend the day shopping, eating wonderful food, and maybe seeing a Broadway show.” She sighed. “But I know those things can wait.”

He pulled her up until he was holding her tight against his chest. “Then that’s what we’ll do.” He glanced towards the glass and the darkness beyond. “Whatever you want,” he said, feeling the desire to tell Mia that their time felt limited.

Something in his gut warned him that if they didn’t find Pandora and Elpis soon, they would be too late.

“Lucas.” Mia leaned back, looking into his eyes. “What?” She tensed. “Tell me.”

Closing his eyes, he shook his head. “I…I’m just tired.”

“I’ve seen you tired. This is something else. Don’t make me hurt you,” she warned. “Because you know I can. I took down a dragon and an evil genie.”

He chuckled, then motioned for her to sit again. “Something’s building. Somehow, Moros and I are… connected. I can feel that he’s getting closer.”

“Okay, then we head to Hidden Creek tomorrow.”

“You’re supposed to find Pandora and Elpis,” he reminded her.

She smiled and waved her hand at him. “And I will. Whatever we need will be provided for us. It always is. When I was needed, I bumped into Selene and Scott. Everything will work out.” She stood and made her way towards him. “Now, I believe you started something in the elevator?” She ran her lips over his jaw as her hands snaked in his pants. “I think it’s only fair that you finish.”

His body instantly reacted to her touch. Something deep down inside him told him that it always would.

“Mia,” he groaned as she started stroking him.

“Yes,” she purred, then she leaned up and bit his earlobe.

Had he said she made him primal? It was too soft of a word. The amount of lust that pulsed through him could have set the building on fire.

“Now,” he growled. He lifted her up until her legs wrapped around him. “I need you now.”

He reached up under her dress and, in one move, tore her silk panties off. Seconds later he was plunging into her right where they stood.

Mia’s head arched back as she cried out his name, begging him for more. He ran his mouth over her neck as her nails scraped and clawed at his arms. When he emptied himself into her, he knew that if they survived whatever dangers they faced in the coming days, weeks, or months, he belonged to her forever.

Two days later, they loaded up his car and headed out to Georgia. They had decided to drive to Hidden Creek, since he wasn’t sure how long they would be there, and he wanted his own vehicle.

He’d taken Mia shopping the day before and, he had to admit, he’d had fun. She made him laugh more than anyone he’d ever been with before. They’d eaten lunch at one of his favorite cafés, then after grabbing sushi for dinner at a restaurant she knew and suggested, they purchased tickets to a late showing of Hamilton.
