He nodded.
“What’s going on?” Amy asked. “Why are we in the Anderson’s field?”
Lucas turned to her and then did a circle. “Where’s the silo?” he asked Amy.
“Gosh, you know about that?” She smiled. Then she turned and pointed. “Just over there. Jacob keeps the entrance locked now. We used to go down there and party all the time in school.”
“We will need the others,” Lucas told Mia. “For now…” He glanced at his watch. “It’s almost lunchtime. I can text them to meet us at the Harvest Moon Family Restaurant.” Lucas turned to Amy and smiled. “My sister Tara owns the new place.”
“Oh, I’d heard that it opened up a few weeks back. I’ve been out of town for… a while.” She shrugged. “I can walk from here?” Amy suggested when they headed back to the car.
“No, it’s okay. I’ll text Joe and have him meet us there too,” Lucas said, pulling out his phone.
By the time they’d all climbed back into the car, his phone chimed.
“They’re heading there now,” he said to the car.
“Thanks,” Amy said and sat back. She was quiet for the rest of the trip, no doubt worried about what Mia had just done. She was pretty sure she’d just freaked the girl out. How in the hell was she supposed to get Pandora to wake? Was she trapped in Amy? Did Amy already know?
When they pulled into the small town, Mia immediately fell in love with the place. She’d been in a ton of small towns all over the south before. She’d read all the articles about how the group of people she was about to meet for the first time claimed they had powers. Thanks to Lucas, she knew it was all true. That and more.
For the next hour, introductions were made over lunch. Everyone was there.
Xtina and Michael and their daughter, Harper. Xtina was every bit as mysterious and mystical as she’d imagined she would be from Lucas’s stories.
Brea and Ethan and their son, Milo, were also there. She knew that Ethan and Michael were twins. Very identical and hunky ones, at that.
Then there was Jess and Jacob and their son Reed. Jacob was Michael and Ethan’s older brother, who also happened to be the law in town. The sexy southern kind of law with his uniform on.
There was Joe and Liz, of course, who were happy to see Amy again and very thankful to them for giving her a ride. Joe appeared to be a meathead. You know the kind—full of rippling muscles and totally head over heels in love with Liz, who was indeed very pregnant.
Joleen and the sexy, nerdy Mason came in later, after everyone’s food had arrived.
Of course, there was Lucas’s sisters and their partners. Tara was the complete opposite of Selene and Lucas with her blonde hair and fair skin. But she was extremely nice. She and Colt, who was obviously ex-military, were busy running around their new restaurant and didn’t really have a chance to sit down and talk much.
Selene and Scott were the only two in the large group that Mia actually knew. She could feel their powers each time she met them. The place practically vibrated with the energy.
“We don’t close for a few more hours,” Tara said when she stopped by their table to refill everyone’s waters. “But if you want, we can all meet out at Xtina and Michael’s place this evening?”
“That’ll do. We want to go check into our rental and maybe have a shower and change,” Lucas said, glancing at his watch.
“Let’s say, eight?” Xtina suggested.
After they finished their food, they all left and went their separate ways.
“That was all… very normal,” Mia said when they climbed back into their car.
Lucas chuckled. “As opposed to fighting dragons and shoving genies back into their golden jails in hidden magical caves?”
She smiled. “Yes.”
When he pulled off the main road and parked into a driveway just in front of a three-car garage, Mia leaned forward. “This? This is the house you rented for us?”
Lucas nodded. “Yup, it’s all ours for as long as we need it.” He shut off the car. “I have the door code here.” He glanced down at his phone. “Want to go look around?”
“Do I!” She jumped out, then nudged him when he tried to get their bags from the trunk. “Later.” She pulled him towards the front door.
The home was a beautiful classic farmhouse. A wide front porch ran along the whole front of the house. On the right side was a porch swing the size of a bed. The other side had four rocking chairs with cushions. Large windows lined the front of the house, both upstairs and on the main floor.
