“Hey, you’re making sense from a logical standpoint. But logic goes out the door when feelings and people’s ego’s get involved.”
“Yea, I think it’s Naz’s ego more than anything because she put up statements addressing the public like she’s an A-List celebrity.”
“I’m weak,” Aspen giggled. “Have you talked to her?”
“No, but I told her I was gon’ pull up on her this evening.”
“Hmmp,” she gave me a suspicious look.
“What?”
“I don’t like the sound of you pulling up to another woman’s house after you just got back with Lourdy.”
“I told you we was back together?” I grinned.
“I would hope y’all are if y’all hunching again.”
“Lil girl, stop saying hunching,” I chuckled.
“Should I say fuc-”
“Chill,” I frowned.
“For real though,” she tittered. “My niece don’t need to be born into toxic mess, so if you’re not going to do right by Lourdy then leave her alone. Y’all can peacefully co-parent without all the extra drama.”
“Aspen, I really don’t need a lecture from my lil sister on what’s right or wrong. Me and Lo have already agreed to work things out.”
“Oh alright, just like I correctly assumed,” she smiled while rolling her eyes. “Is she okay with you going to Naz’s house?”
“She’s the one who told me to meet up with her to officially cut her off.”
Her eyes opened wide. “She did?”
“Yup…cause I was just gon’ shoot her a text or call.”
“Shooting her a text would’ve been so disrespectful.
“It would have,” I admitted. “I was just trying to avoid a hostile situation.”
Her face turned up. “You scared?”
“No,” I laughed. “I just know Naz got a mean streak. I then witnessed her beat her ex’s ass and do the most. She’s never gotten crazy with me but that’s because we’ve always been on the same page. There was never a time that I wasn’t willing to fuck with her, so I don’t know how she’s going to react now that I’m telling her that we can’t even be friends anymore.”
“She’s going to be upset and she has every right to be. She better keep her hands to herself though.”
“Whatchu gon’ do if she don’t?”
“Let’s just say I’m only an hour away. You can’t fight her but I can.”
“Alright, lil girl,” I chuckled. I’d taught Aspen and Aneesah a thing or two about fighting, so they could hold their own. But I wasn’t sure how they would hold up against a street bitch like Naz. Stealing and scamming was what she did for a living, but there was an extended time in her life where she would fight for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. She gained a reputation in the St. Thomas for having lethal hands. The only people I knew who could probably overtake her were my cousins, Fendi and Versace. They threw straight fists when they fought whereas Naz got dirty. She’d pull hair, scratch, claw eyes out, spit, kick, jump, and whatever else it took to get the W. I hadn’t seen her act like that since she was in her early 20’s, so it was safe to say those days were behind her. I’d still never let my lil sisters fight her or anybody else on my behalf. If Naz wanted to put hands and feet on me then that was an L I had to hold for making her think we were more than what we were.
I continued to move from room to room in my house giving Aspen the full tour she demanded. “Heres the backyard.”
“Ooouu, is that a pool?”
“Yup.”
“Oh, we bouta have too much fun in this house!”
