“We should plan a family trip to Disney World next year,” Qaylo suggested as he passed me the blunt. “I think all the kids would enjoy going together.”

“Nigga, didn’t you just get back from celebrating Qwame’s 5th birthday at Disney World a few days ago?” Kai asked.

“Yea…that lil nigga getting out the way. It feels like he was just born,” Qaylo smiled into the distance with red eyes.

“Nigga, you high as fuck,” I laughed and choked on the smoke I was inhaling in the process.

“He ain’t the only one,” Quinton chuckled before puffing on the blunt that Kyree had just passed him. “Now about this family trip shit…”

“Oh yea,” Kyree’s dad, Uncle KG, spoke up. “We gotta do that next summer. I was just saying we need to do a family reunion.”

“No nigga, I was just saying we need to do a family reunion and you agreed,” Uncle Quincy grumbled.

“Same difference.”

“The hell it is. Don’t be taking credit for my ideas, nigga.”

Uncle Quincy and Uncle KG were brothers, same mom and dad, so them fussing was nothing new or anything to take seriously. Although my dad was only their cousin he used to be right in the mix with them. He was an only child, so they claimed him as their brother, too.

“I’m with the family reunion thing, but why can’t we just do it at a park here in New Orleans?” Kai asked.

“I’m saying,” Vance agreed. “A trip to Disney World of all places don’t seem necessary.”

“It’ll be something fun for the kids, though,” Kyree said.

“Well I don’t have no kids,” Kai replied bitterly.

“Damn, you sound kinda mad, nephew,” Uncle KG chuckled. Like me, Kai was actually his little cousin, but Aunts and Uncles were determined based on age differences in our family.

“He better go put a baby in that fine ass girlfriend of his tonight,” Uncle Quincy advised. “The baby will be here by the end next summer.”

“Been there, tried that. Dream is on birth control…and don’t be complimenting my bitch. I know she fine.”

Everybody was laughing while Kai didn’t crack a grin. Never did I think I’d see the day where my cousin would be in his feelings because a woman wasn’t trying to get knocked up by him. He was the one who went out of his way to strap up and make sure the girls he was smashing were on birth control. For as long as I knew he was team fuck them kids and that was normal for a 25 year old. But Dream had evidently changed his perspective on the matter. I could relate thanks to her best friend.

“You better get to hiding them pills,” Uncle Quincy said.

“Dad, what is this advice you giving this man?” Qaylo asked in disbelief. “If that girl not ready for kids then hiding her pills is a fucked up thing to do.”
