He watched me while I brushed my hair out.

“Rox?”

“Hmm?”

“I like us not fighting.”

I gave him a small smile. It felt weird not having the urge to punch him in the face, but I liked the shift between us. It was a welcome change. “Me too.”

“Not sorry it took me giving you countless orgasms to change that.”

“Ass!” I shrieked and threw a pillow at his head, but I liked the way he smirked at me.

“C’mere you,” he demanded.

Before I knew it, I was in his arms again, and the idea of me sleeping in my brother’s bed was long forgotten.

This man was bad news, but I would enjoy every minute of our secret affair. Even if I was sure it would break my heart in the process. I had to remind my heart that he wasn’t sticking around. I might enjoy all the orgasms he gave me, and we might have overcome our past issues, but I couldn’t fall in love with him.

Chapter Twenty

BENNY

I ran my fingers through Rox’s hair as she lay naked and spent across my chest. Something had shifted between us since we got back from Canada. I thought the fire would have died out, but it was weeks later, and we still couldn’t control the need to constantly be wrapped up in each other’s arms. It was getting harder to pretend I hadn’t caught feelings for this feisty woman. Especially when the little minx had woken me up this morning for sex.

“What did I do to deserve morning sex?” I asked her as I kissed the top of her head.

She grinned up at me. “To thank you for last night.” She nuzzled her nose across my neck and laid a soft kiss against my skin. “It was so nice. No one’s ever done that for me before.”

Last night I told everyone I was busy, set my phone to Do Not Disturb, and spent the night satisfying my angel. She had been having a stressful week at work, so I wanted to help her relax. It was a total boyfriend move, even though she had made it clear I was one hundred percent not her boyfriend. If this was a casual affair with a timestamp, I would take whatever I got from her. Even if it broke my heart. And it would. Because I was pretty sure I was in love with Roxanne Desjardins. Maybe I always had been.

“I thought you would be too sore,” I said.

She kissed my neck again, which didn’t help with the guy downstairs, thinking it was time to go again. My dick was insatiable for her. It always wanted to be buried deep inside her. How was I so horny again?

“That’s what lube’s for,” she whispered in my ear. She nipped at my skin, and her hand traveled down my abs.

“Rox,” I warned.

“What?”

“Angel, I don’t think I have anything left in the tank.”

She cackled. “Oh, did I wear you out?”

I groaned and gave her a knowing look. “You know you did.”

She laughed into my skin.

I curled around her, my head in the crook of her neck. She stroked my hair, and I closed my eyes in contentment as her fingers trailed down so she could trace the tattoo on my arm.

“This is a Day of the Dead skull, right?” she asked.

“Yeah, it’s a sugar skull—a Calavera,” I said.

Her deft fingers traced across the lines of colorful ink. “It’s beautiful.”

“I’m proud of my Mexican heritage. I’m proud of who I am and where I come from. It’s important for me to remember that.”
