My twin had a meaner hook than some dudes on the ice.
“Why did you do that?”
I leaned my head back against the wall. “I don’t know!”
She narrowed her eyes. “Tristan…”
I changed the subject back to my original question, before she sussed out the thoughts in my head. “Why would she have faked it, though?”
Rox sighed. “I don’t know, but some women don’t come from penetration alone. Maybe that’s all it was. It might not have been something you did.”
“You’ve never done that?”
She shook her head and then stopped to ponder it for a moment. “With Lisa.”
“Really?”
She nodded. “A couple of times. She was kinda selfish in bed. Not with Benny.”
“Never?”
“Nope!” the big man in question called out. I looked up and saw him standing in the doorway of my bedroom.
He smiled at my sister, and she looked at him like he was her sun and stars. I never thought they would look at each other like that. When I left for Russia last summer, I thought I would come back to my sister being arrested for murder since she hadn’t exactly liked the big guy for several years. But now they were disgustingly in love. I pretended it made me sick, but I was glad Roxie found someone who loved her the way she deserved.
“You know your sister. She likes to tell everyone what to do,” Benny said with a dopey grin on his face. Damn, he was so weak for her.
“You like it!” she teased.
His grin got bigger. “You know I do, angel.”
Barf. I wanted to get away from all this lovey-dovey stuff. It was so bizarre to see them this way.
Benny gave me a cocky smirk. “Besides, I usually go down on her if I’m not making her come with my dick or fingers.”
“BENNY!” my twin shrieked.
“EWWWWW! I don’t want to know that!” I yelled at him. I really did not need to know that.
Benny laughed and shrugged shamelessly. Rox shook her head but got up and walked over to him. I watched him bend his head and kiss her like they hadn’t just seen each other the moment she walked in the door. As much as it pained me to see my sister with one of my teammates, I’d never seen her look at any of her partners the way she looked at Benny.
Rox walked out of my bedroom with Benny, shutting the door behind her.
I laid on my bed and tried to stop thinking about the mysterious blonde. I didn’t know why it bothered me so much that Max faked it. She clearly wanted nothing to do with me, and it wasn’t like me to be hung up on a chick.
I should have told myself to forget about her. I should have been banging my way through all of Philadelphia, pretending I didn’t feel anything. Instead, I scrolled through Max’s social media like a creepy stalker. There was something about this woman that called to me.
CHAPTER SIX
MAXINE
It was easy to avoid a man you had a one-night stand with when he was a professional athlete who was on the road a lot. Except for seeing him yesterday when he wanted to talk to Rox. I gave him the cold shoulder and pretended I was busy; it wasn’t like he wanted to talk to me.
I knew the score when I went home with TJ, and I had been fine with that.
There was one problem, though—I couldn’t stop thinking about him.
I couldn’t stop thinking about how he held me in a gentle, yet firm grip. Or how his kisses made me feel alive. I hadn’t felt like that in a very long time.
