“I want you. And only you. For what we have to be real. Not this weird thing where we tell everyone we’re not dating, yet we spend every chance we get together. Because, princess? You’re my dream girl, and I never want to let you go. Because I love you.”

I let out a breath and silently pleaded with her to say something. She was still processing it all, but instead of saying anything, she burst into tears.

“Oh, Lily. I’m sorry.”

She shook her head and waved me off. “I—you love me?”

I nodded and placed her hand over my heart. “With all my heart and soul.”

“More than hockey?” she asked, her lips curving up into a sly smile.

“So much more than hockey.”

“And video games?”

“Princess, more than anything. It’s okay if you don’t feel the same. I’m dumping a lot on you.”

“I do! Oh God, I’ve been waiting so long for someone to tell me those words, to lay themselves bare for me. To believe in our love. I kept pressing down my feelings for you because I knew a relationship was out of the question. I’ve been mad at myself for how much I miss you when I can’t have you completely.”

“You have all of me, every last inch.”

“Logan, I fell in love with you the very first time you took my daughter in your arms and soothed her.”

I cupped her face. “I’m with you, okay? It’s not gonna be easy, but I want you, and that means everything. The kids, the toddler tantrums at dinner, the bedtime routines, the waking up with tiny feet against our heads. I want the good, the bad, and everything in between.”

She leaned up and met her lips with mine. As we kissed on the front porch of her mom’s house, I put every feeling I could into it. Showing her with my body all the words I had already said.

When she pulled away, tears still pricked her eyes, and I wiped them away with the back of my thumbs. “Now, let’s talk about these tears and why you’ve been icing me out.”

She grimaced. “Seth filed for sole custody, and he took Rosie yesterday.”

Hot rage bubbled up inside me. “He fucking did what?”

Chapter Thirty-Two

LILY

Logan’s strong jaw ticked. I felt like a dick for avoiding him, but I had been so busy working with my lawyer to figure out our case against Seth.

Logan ran a hand through his beard. “Okay, we’re fighting this, right?”

“We?” I asked and cocked my head at him.

“Princess, you need a witness. I’m there. There’s no way that asshole’s taking your daughter.”

I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face. “Oh, Logan. I can’t ask you to do that.”

“I love Rosie, and I love you, and your shitty ex-husband hasn’t seen her in weeks.”

I frowned. “I think he’s doing it to have control over me. My lawyer thinks we have a good case against him. Especially since he refuses to pay child support.”

He cupped my face. “You should have told me.”

“I’m sorry. I knew these games were important. I didn’t want to distract you. Especially if you’re not my boyfriend.”

“Um…you know I am, right? That’s why I came here as soon as I got back.”

I beamed. “So I get to be your gamer girlfriend now?”
